Fr Eamonn Corkery, Aughnacliffe, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 of Fr Eamonn Corkery, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford Parish Priest Emeritus of Dromard and former Curate in Mohill and Ferbane.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Catherine, sisters Lily-mae, Molly, Sr Annette, Celine and Veronica and by his brothers Fr John, Patrick, Simon, Aidan and Michael. Fr Eamonn will be lovingly remembered by his family, sisters Philomena (Gerety) and Angela (Shanley), brothers Nelius and Oliver, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, Bishop Paul Connell, his brother priests and religious of the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois, relatives and friends. Requiescat in pace.

Fr Eamonn will repose at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Thursday, December 19 from 2.30pm until 4.30pm, followed by removal to St Mary’s Church, Legga to arrive for evening prayers at 5.30pm. Mai O'Reilly (née McGrath), Old Clonbroney House, Clonbroney, Ballinalee, Longford

The death occurred suddenly in her home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 of Mai O'Reilly (nee McGrath), Old Clonbroney House, Clonbroney, Ballinalee, Co Longford and formerly of Moatfarrell, Ballinalee.

Mai reunited with her beloved husband John, brothers Petie and Paddy, sister Chriss and her parents. Mai will be sadly missed and always remembered with love by her heartbroken family, sons Peter, John and Damien, daughters Arlene (Hughes), Kathy (Gregg), Patricia and Susanne (Tully), sons-in-law John, Richard and Peter, her adored grandchildren Charlotte, Ian, Laura and Abbey, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, dear friends and neighbours. Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford N39 KN66 on Thursday, December 19 from 6pm concluding with prayers 8pm. Removal from her home on Friday, December 20 to arrive at the Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee for Mass of the Resurrection at 1pm. Following Mass, Cremation Service will take place in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Rd, Cavan at 4pm. Family flowers only please.

James McGrane, 22 Demesne, Longford town, Co Longford and formerly of Moydow, Co Longford

The death occurred suddenly at his home on Monday, December 16, 2024 of James McGrane, 22 Demesne, Longford town, Co Longford and formerly of Moydow, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his wife Margaret, parents Kathleen and Patrick, sisters Bernadette and Kathleen. James will be sadly missed and always remembered with love by his family, daughters Emma, Una, Claire, Olive and Ann, sons Jason and Morgan, his adored grandchildren Andrew, Abigail, Jack, Hannah, Liam, Zack and Ryan, sisters Theresa (England) and Una Walshe (Laois), daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and good friends. Brenda Nicholson (née O'Donohoe), The Demense, Longford Town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of St Teresa’s Ward at Roscommon University Hospital on Monday, December 16, 2024 of Brenda Nicholson (née O’Donohoe), The Demense, Longford town. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Joe. The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the care of the wonderful staff of Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Sunday, December 15, 2024 of Bridget (Bridie) Whelan (nee Quinn), Clooncoose and formerly Kiltybegs, Longford. 

Predeceased by her mother Katie, father John and son-in-law Seanie Reilly. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Ronnie, son Sean, daughter Sinead, daughter-in-law Melissa, sisters Kathleen and Philomena, brother John, grandchildren Shelly, Niamh, Olivia, Shauna, Ronan, Darragh, Peter and Katie, great-grandchild Ronan, brother-in-law Dan, nephew Daniel, niece Maria, Noel Allen – who was a part of Bridie’s household for many a year, relatives, many good friends and neighbours. Reposing in her son Sean's home, Curradooey, Longford, (N39 A039) for family, close friends and neighbours only please on Tuesday, December 17 from 6pm until 8pm. Reposing then, to the general public in the Chapel of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Templemichael Glebe, Longford (N39 XE92) on Wednesday, December 18 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass at 11am on Thursday, December 19 in St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford, followed by burial in Ballymacormack Cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully in the devoted care of the staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital and previously the care of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford on Monday, December 16, 2024 of  Kay (Kathleen) Fitzgerald (née Carroll) The Green, Lanesboro, Co Longford. 

Wife of the late Matty and sister of the late Seamus. She will be very sadly missed by her daughter Catrina, sons Jim and Rob, brother Michael, sister Marie, son-in-law Gary, daughters-in-law Caroline and Donna, much loved Nana to Tommy, Daisy, Leo, Joe, Conor and Moya, extended family, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Beaumont Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 15, 2024 of John (Jackie) Cullen, Raheny, Dublin/ Granard, Co Longford, late of Arnotts Wholesale.

Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret, his brother Frank and sisters Catherine, Rosie, Marie and Terry. Very sadly missed by his children Rosemary, Joan, Michael, Paul, John, Carmel and Oonagh, sons-in-law Alan, Larry, John and Bill, daughters-in-law Karlene, Sally, Paul’s partner Jackie, grandchildren A.J., Helen, Declan, Jack, Frances, Ellie, Rosie, Róisín, Emer, Grace, Olivia, Jack, Ciara, Emma, James, Eoghan and Shane, his sister Josie, sister-in-law Una nephews, nieces, kind neighbours and many friends. Felix Harten, Carnagh Upper, Kilcogy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at his home in the loving care of his family on Sunday, December 15, 2024 of Felix Harten, Birmingham, England and formerly Carnagh Upper, Kilcogy, Co Cavan. Predeceased by his parents Felix and Rose his beloved son Colin sisters Kathleen and Eithne and brother Benny.

The death occurred unexpectedly, at her residence on Monday, December 16, 2024 of Kathleen (Kate) Connaughton (nee Nolan), Weekfield, Co Roscommon. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Peter and sister Bridget. Kate will be sadly missed by her daughters Caroline, Monica, Claire and Cathy, her sons PJ and Pat, daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Kate Rest In Peace.

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Our Lady's Hospital, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 of Tom Cassidy, 29 Gaelic Park Drive, Bundoran, Co Donegal and formerly of Rathowen, Co Westmeath. 

Beloved husband of the late Kathleen and grandfather of the late Jennifer (Boland). Tom will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his loving family, his sons Mel (Martina), Thomas (Deirdre), James (Lorraine), daughters Doris, Eilish, Patricia (Liam), Siobhan (Eamon) and Deirdre (Micheal), his adored 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and all his relatives, neighbours and friends. May Tom Rest in Eternal Peace.

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his family in his 94th year on Monday, December 16, 2024 of John (Johnny) McWeeney, Drumlom, Annaduff, Co. Leitrim.

Patrick Francis Gaffney, Longford / Dublin

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 of Patrick Francis Gaffney (born Longford June 29, 1942, lived in Dublin and then Fremantle, Western Australia). He was a loving husband, an affectionate and caring father, and a cheeky grandfather to Dara, Greta, and Ingrid. Our dad packed a lot into his 82 years. He could work a room like the best, leaving every occasion knowing the names and interesting details about all the people he met. Although he never witnessed a Dockers grand final win, he embraced each new year with hope and loved watching others strive for their best. Now, it is time to say, "Let's go," as he is reunited in heaven with his beloved Phyllis, our mum. With much love and gratitude, Franklin, Aengus, and Sarah-Jane (children) Dara, Greta, and Ingrid (grandchildren) Mili and Gareth (in-laws).

The death occurred peacefully in England on Saturday, November 30, 2024 of Sean McKeon Bury Park, Luton, England and formerly of Aughaboy, Killoe, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents John and Mary, brother Micheal and sister Kathleen. Beloved father of Sinéad, Rhys, Luke, Alyisha, Mairéad, Heavy, Wayne. Greatly missed by his brothers Jerome Luton UK, Fergal Tullamore, Sister Moira Armagh, Goretta Northampton UK.
