Young Longford ‘Eco Art Explorers’ blend creativity with environmental action

Over the month of August Longford County Council’s Environment Section proudly launched ‘Eco Art Explorers’, a vibrant new environmental awareness programme developed using funding from the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment’s Anti-Litter & Anti-Graffiti Grant Scheme.

Through the creative medium of art, over 30 young participants aged between 5-to-12 years of age from the Longford Youth Creative Wellbeing Group in McEoin Park and young residents of the Ardnacassa area in Longford town explored key themes such as reducing waste, reusing materials and recycling creatively, and caring for their surroundings.

Participants transformed recycled materials into expressive anti-litter and anti-graffiti artworks, blending creativity with environmental action.

To support these environmental efforts, each group received litter-picking equipment to help keep their neighbourhoods clean, green and welcoming.

Thanks has been extended to Sláintecare Healthy Communities, the Longford Youth Creative Wellbeing Group, and the community houses in McEoin Pak and Ardnacassa for their invaluable support and hospitality.
