'The celebrations were unbelievable': Longford musical duo shortlisted for award in the Canary Islands

LONGFORD musical act Magic Moments has been shortlisted for a Tenerife Entertainment Award.

Angie Shedwell and Aaron Nelson, both from Longford Town, have been recognised under the Best Newcomer category.

The ‘go-to’ duo offer live performances and karaoke like never before.

Speaking to Longford Live, Angie said:

“The vote for the nominations were resident only so we really didn’t expect to be nominated! The day we found out we went crazy, the celebrations were unbelievable, we called my mam, my dad, all our family at home.

“Myself and Aaron are quite the duo. We’re a bit mad so it’s always a gamble on what people are going to think of us. Turns out Tenerife loves us!”

Angie and Aaron have only been performing in Tenerife for the last four months.

“The best part for us is that we get to do what we love most in the world and to be recognised for that is more than we ever could have asked for.”

Angie added: “We love our town and so proud to be from Longford so if we win this award we are taking it home for Christmas for all to celebrate We have received a serious amount of love and support from both here and at home.”

Back on home soil, Angie and Aaron also perform with Longford Variety Group.

“Now that we are nominated we can get our friends and family from home to vote for us to win so this part is super important. Myself and Aaron love what we do that’s why we do it, our only aim is to put smiles on people’s faces and make sure they have a magical night.”

Voting is open to the public here until October 31.

The winners of the Tenerife Entertainment Awards will be announced on November 15.

Angie’s parents, Ken and Angie Shedwell previously performed under the same act name and are known as the original Magic Moments.
