“Ye sausages!” 'Bizarre but sinister' video posted in retaliation to Longford attack

A number of serious incidents have occurred in Longford Town in recent weeks

Local Gardaí have described as “bizarre but sinister” a series of threats in a retaliation video posted by feud members believed to have been the original targets of a serious attack that occurred recently.

In the video, which has been circulating on WhatsApp, several men with their hoods pulled up over their faces can be seen surrounding a gang member in a balaclava as he addresses the camera.

He refers to the rival gang as ‘sausages’ but goes on to issue them with a stark warning. Click on the video above to watch in full. Please note, the name of the gang mentioned at the beginning of the video has been removed from the clip.

At the end of the video, the gang members can be heard cheering in response to the serious threats being made.

In the February meeting of Longford County Council, representatives expressed grave concerns over the escalation of violence in the town and and voiced their frustration that no new Garda recruits from Templemore had been assigned to the county.

While tensions in the town had eased somewhat, the last month alone has seen a flare up in feud-related activity.

A convoy of Gardaí from the Armed Support Unit and Longford Garda Station surrounded and raided a house in Garvey’s Close in Longford Town as part of a weapons search. You can watch the raid here.

Two nights later, a gunman was caught on camera firing at the same house.

In a separate incident, a man was arrested for possession of a weapon after Gardaí intercepted an altercation taking place in Annaly Car Park, located beside Garvey’s Close.

The latest attack, a double stabbing, resulted in a man being dumped outside Longford Garda Station after having sustained knife injuries. A second man was also injured in the incident which occurred on February 9 in Teffia Park.

The above video marks the latest in a succession of public threats issued by individuals involved in the feud.

In another video, which you can watch here, gang members film themselves threatening a rival as they follow him through a housing estate.

Gardaí say their investigations are progressing.
