Defying recent 'negative reviews' as bingo goers come to Longford town

Time for fun is a monthly bingo event in the Temperance Hall and garnered a huge crowd

The night was a success for Longford town with lots of attendees

It was a 4 and 1, 41, Time For Fun with the monthly bingo at the Temperance Hall, Longford town on Tuesday, February 10. There was a large crowd in attendance and talking to a few avid bingo players, they were unanimous in their view that nothing would keep them from the bingo or going about town despite all the recent negative news.

Each month the bingo game receives vital sponsorship support from great local businesses. Torc, this month, donated sponsorship with great prizes, and considering it is the season of love, there were some lovely chocolate roses as well.



Cllr Niall Gannon stepped into the breach at the last minute to call out the numbers, and he grew into his role as the evening proceeded.


Bingo brings back positive and fond memories for when I used to go as a young lad with my aunts Bridgie McTiernan and Caroline Lyons and my late grandmother Bridie Croghan. It was a smoked-filled room and I loved to run around to Donlons for the sweets.



The only thing that's changed is the ban on smoking. Everything else is the same. The sweats and groans at the cheek of anyone daring to win besides yourself. The favourite pens and lucky charms and elation on getting that lucky number.

Bingo is held once a month thanks to the Temperance Hall committee and keep an eye on the Temperance Hall social media for more bingo news.
