The death occurred peacefully after a short illness, in his 87th year in the excellent care of the Staff on St Mark’s Ward, Hermitage Clinic on Monday, April 6, 2026 of Frank (James F) Rooney, Lisanure, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his sister Mai Greene, brother William and grand-daughter Naomi Edgely. Sadly missed by his wife Anne, daughter Anne Marie Edgely and her husband Cyril, sons Vincent and his partner Emer, Kevin and his wife Laura, grandchildren Sarah, Neil, Dylan, Amy, Alesha and Siún, niece, nephew, relatives and a wide circle of friends. Your life was love and labour Your love for your family True You did your best for all of us We will always love and remember you. Rest in peace Frank.

Reposing in Glennon's Funeral Home, Oakland's, Longford (N39ce81) on Wednesday April 8 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 9 at 12 noon in St Mary's Church, Edgeworthstown, Co. Jo Jo Gannon (née Connor), Ardnacassa, Dublin Road, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, April 5, 2026 of Jo Jo Gannon (nee Connor), Ardnacassa, Dublin road, Longford town. 

Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Annie, sisters Christine, Anne and Myra, brothers Packie and Tony and by her beloved husband Joe. Jo Jo will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, daughters Annette and Geraldine, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home Chapel (N39 XE92) on Wednesday, April 8 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, April 9 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. Michael (Mick) Farrell, Mullinagower, Castlebridge, Wexford and formerly Newtowncashel, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family, under the excellent care of the staff at Wexford General Hospital on Monday, April 6, 2026 of Michael (Mick) Farrell Mullinagower, Castlebridge, Wexford and formerly Newtowncashel, Co Longford.

Devoted husband of Therese and beloved father of Aoife and Ruairi. Dearly missed by his loving family, daughter-in-law Linda, Aoife's partner Tash, his adored grandchildren Lucy and Jack and his lifelong friends Ann and Tom.

Predeceased by his sister Liz and brother Peter, fondly remembered by his siblings Sr Antoinette, Martha, Paddy and Phil and all his nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, caring neighbours and friends. May He Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Macken's Funeral Home, Distillery Road, Wexford, Y35 HP29 on Thursday, April 9 from 5pm until 7pm. Removal shall take place on Friday morning, April 10 to St Ibar's Church, Castlebridge, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial afterwards in St Ibar's Cemetery, Castlebridge.

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family and the Mercy Community, in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and care staff in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, April 5, 2026 of Sr Margaret Oates, Convent of Mercy, St Joseph's Road, Longford and formerly of Derrycarne, Dromod, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her parents, Molly and Charlie, brother Sean, her nephew Rory and members of the Oates and Ellis families. Sr Margaret will be forever missed and always remembered by her loving family, sisters Joan, Teasie, Frances and her brother Tom, brothers-in-law Paddy and Tommy, sister-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, friends and the Sisters of Mercy, Western Branch. May Sr Margaret Rest in Peace.

Removal from the Convent Chapel on Wednesday, April 8 to arrive to St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery, Longford. Mass can be viewed live HERE. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Kay Walsh, Clonsilla, Dublin / Kenagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of family and staff at St Joseph’s Centre, Clonsilla on Friday, April 3, 2026 of Kay Walsh, Clonsilla, Dublin 15 and formerly of Derryhaun, Kenagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Ann and Michael, brother Michael, nephew Colin and brother-in-law Oliver. Sadly missed by her loving brothers John, Colm, Stephen, Paddy and Josie, sisters Mary and Margaret, sisters-in-law Pauline, Pauline, Bridie, Kim and Cáit, nieces, nephews, relatives, all the staff and friends at St. Joseph’s and her wide circle of friends.

Mary Kirwin (née Flynn), Howth, Dublin / Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff at Beaumont Hospital on Friday, April 3, 2026 of Mary Kirwin (née Flynn), Howth, Dublin and formerly Ballymahon, Co Longford. 

Beloved wife of Joseph (Joe) and loving mother to Paula, Joanne, Elaine, Brian and David. Predeceased by her parents Jimmy and Dorrie, her brother Liam, her baby grand-children Conor and Kate, her brothers-in-law Rusty and Aidan and her nephew Cian.

Mary will be very sadly missed by her husband, sons and daughters, sons-in-law Paul, Henry and John, daughters-in-law Ciara and Susan, grandchildren Daniel, Ciaran, Shane, Emily, Ben, Killian, Grace, David, Erin, Ailbhe, Joseph, Jacob, Isaac, Samuel and Matthew, brothers Brendan and Paddy, sisters Helen, Úna, Catherine, Sinéad and Michelle, brothers-in-law Frank and Tom, sisters-in-law Marie, Oonagh and Catherine, beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and wonderful neighbours. Mary will be reposing at Staffords Funeral Home, Golf links Road, Portmarnock on Thursday afternoon, April 9 from 2pm to 4.30pm. Removal on Friday morning, April 10 to the Church of the Assumption, Howth arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by burial in Balgriffin Cemetery extension. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE on Friday morning, April 10 at 10am.

James (Sonny) Keane, Ballinwing, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim, N41 YN26 / Leitrim village, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 of James (Sonny) Keane, Ballinwing, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim N41 YN26/ Leitrim village, Co Leitrim.

Pre-deceased by his Parents Brian and Bridget and sister Mary Teresa. Sonny will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, wife Alicia, daughters Martina, Marie and Ailish, sons Brian, James and Joe (Ballinwing), daughters-in-law Clodagh and Tara, sons-in-law Brian Sweeney (Drumshanbo), Joe Honeyman (Ballinamore) and Dan Quinn (Ballinwing), grandchildren Sadhbh, Patrick, Ned, James, Emma, Paddy, Dhani, Millie, Paul, Jay, Oscar, Anna, Mabel, Edie, Tommy, Mason and Alicia, nephew Seamus Regan, niece Phil Taylor, relatives, neighbours and friends. Sonny will repose at his residence Eircode (N41 YN26) on Wednesday, April 8 from 4pm until 8pm and on Thursday, April 9 from 1pm until 3pm.

Please note the family will be taking a 15-minute break on Wednesday evening, April 8 from 5.45 until 6pm. Please Note one way system in operation enter via Ballinamore road and exit via Leitrim village. Removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Leitrim village on Thursday evening, April 9 arriving for 6pm. Mass of Christian burial on Friday, April 10 at 12 noon in St Joseph's Church, Leitrim village, followed by burial in Drumshanbo new Cemetery.

Edward Joseph (Joe) McLoughlin, Maryland, USA / Corraslira, Strokestown, Co Roscommon

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward Joseph (Joe) McLoughlin, Maryland, USA, and formerly of Corraslira, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon, suddenly at his residence on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Joe is deeply regretted by his sister Maura Lundon, brother-in-law Denis, nieces Denise, Michelle, Catherine, Siobhán and Caitríona, nephews Dara and Brendan, extended family and friends. Joe is sadly missed and will be lovingly remembered by his family, relations and his many great friends in both Ireland and the USA.

Joe was widely known for his service with An Garda Síochána, his longstanding membership of the Knights of Columbus and membership of the Teamsters. Joe had a deep love of Irish music, history and culture. He will be forever remembered for his quiet strength, enduring faith, his generosity of spirit and his kindness to all who knew him.

Joe is predeceased by his parents Joe and Kate McLoughlin and his beloved sister Catherine. May Joe's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Margaret ‘Maggie’ McKeon (née Duignan), Corlough, Fenagh, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, in her 103rd year on Monday, April 6, 2026 of Margaret ‘Maggie’ McKeon (nee Duignan), Corlough, Fenagh, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by her husband, Tommy, her two infant sons, her sisters, Mary, Annie Alice (Sr Columcille), Ellen, (Sr Catherine), Bridie and her brothers Joe, Willie, Hubie and Jimmy. Deeply loved and missed by her family, Mary, Eileen, Valerie, and Tommy, her daughter-in-law Deirdre, her sons-in-law, Martin and Padraig, her grandchildren, David, Gillian, Brian, Colm, Carla, Conor, Tom, Thomas, Joseph and Ellen, great-grandchildren Saoirse and Elsi, her extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Smith's Funeral Home, High Street, Ballinamore, County Leitrim, N41 TD62, on Wednesday evening, April 8 from 6 until 8pm. Removal from her home in Corlough on Thursday morning, April 9 arriving at St Mary's Church, Foxfield for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Fenagh Abbey Cemetery. House strictly private please, except for neighbours, friends, and carers. Family flowers only.

Greig Petrie, Mohill, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, in his 96th year, following a long and happy life, with his loving family nearby and in the excellent care of the staff at Arus Carolan Nursing Home, Mohill, on Saturday, April 4, 2026 of Greig Petrie, Mohill, Leitrim. 

Greig will be dearly missed by his loving wife Doreen (née Humphrey's), his children Cora, John and Alexander, partners Dave and Sarah and his much loved grandchildren Liam, Oscar and Rory, his niece Adele and nephews Greg, John and Ian, relatives and friends. Predeceased by his sister Jean and his parents Walter and Ruby. May he sleep in heavenly peace. 

Reposing at Farnaught Church (N41 HO29) on Tuesday, April 7 from 7pm to 8pm. House private please. Greig’s life will be celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 8 in Farnaught Church, followed by cremation afterwards in Lakeland's Crematorium Cavan (H12 RF78) at 3pm. The death occurred peacefully in University Hospital Galway after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 of Francis Collins Ballybeg, Strokestown, Co Roscommon.

Beloved Husband of Ita (Smyth), much loved Dad of Ellen (Fallon), Yvonne (Gilleran), Seamus & Christine and adored Grandad of Keelan, Rían, Aoibhín, Ruadhán, Fiadh & Keeva. Francis will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife, children, grandchildren, sons-in-law Damien & Seán, daughter-in-law Ellen, brothers Seán (Strokestown), Hugh (Ballinasloe), Clement (Kilrooskey) & Vincent (Beechwood), sisters Mary (Boylan, Celbridge) & Dympna (Hurley, Glinsk), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many good friends.

Francis is predeceased by his parents Frank & Sheila, his infant sister Fidelma, his parents-in-law Jimmie & Doodle (Ballintubber) and his brother-in-law Ray. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Iris Bennett (née Magee), Tonaloy, Doogarry, Killeshandra, Co Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of her family on Monday, April 6, 2026 of Iris Bennett (née Magee) Tonaloy, Doogarry, Killeshandra, County Cavan. 

Predeceased by her loving husband James, sister, Lily Gilpin, brothers, William and George Magee. Iris will be very sadly missed by daughters Anna (Herbert) and Frances (William) and son William (Clodagh), Grandchildren Andrew (Rachel), Helen (Craig), Robert (Stephanie), James (Emma), David, Laura (Ryan), Ryan and Gemma (Shane), great grandchild Austin, sister Doreen Wood, brothers-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and all the family circle. “Safe in the arms of Jesus”.

Iris will be reposing at the residence of her daughter Frances and son-in-law William, Drumsillagh House, Carrigallen, County Leitrim (H12 V568) on Tuesday, April 7 from 4pm to 9pm. Sr Thérése O’Neill, Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in Birmingham Hospital aged 80 on Saturday, March 21, 2026 of Sr Thérése (Peggy) O’Neill, 94 Selly Park Road, Selly Park, Birmingham B297LL and formerly of Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan.

Predeceased by her parents Michael and Ellen O’Neill, sister Roisin (O’Reilly, Golf Links Road, Cavan), brother Paddy (Dublin), nephews Michael and Brian. Deeply regretted by sisters Eileen (McGovern, Legaginny, Ballinagh), Mary (Rafter, Newtownforbes), brother Michael (Ballyhaise), sisters-in-law Bridie (O’Neill, Ballyhaise), Teresa (O’Neill, Dublin), nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and Sisters of The Charity of St. Paul, Selly Park Birmingham. Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 of Noel (Michael) McKiernan, Rugeley Staffordshire UK and formerly of Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan.

Predeceased by his wife Margaret, infant daughter Marie, parents James and Maisie and brothers Jim (Australia) and Mattie (UK). 

Noel is survived by his sons Martin (Carolyn) and son William, Colin (Michelle) and sons Gary and Terry, all UK.

Sisters Rosaleen Callaghan (Newport, Co. Mayo), Maura Walsh (Granard, Co. Longford), Dympna Molloy, (Swellan Cavan), Una Graham (Glenlara Cavan) and Seán (Drumcrave, Cavan). Sisters-in-law Jean McKiernan (Australia) Jackie Mc Kiernan (Australia) and Mary Mc Kiernan (UK), his adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Noel's Requiem Mass will be on Thursday,  April 9 in St. Joseph's Church, Rugeley, Staffordshire WS15 2EH followed by cremation at Stafford Crematorium ST16 3AQ. "Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam".
