Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred in a house in Killashee in recent days.

It is understood an intruder or intruders entered the home through a window between last Saturday morning and Monday evening and ransacked the residence.

It is understood the alarm was raised when the householders, who had been away, returned home after several days away and contacted Gardaí.

There was nothing taken during the raid.

There has been no arrests made yet in relation to the incident.

A Garda spokesman said, "Gardaí attended the scene of a burglary at a residential property in Killashee, Co. Longford.

"The incident occurred between Saturday, April 4 at 7am to Monday, April 6 at 8:15pm.

"Investigations are ongoing."
