Each story is unique, yet together they showcase the remarkable contributions women are making to the business community in Longford and beyond.

Yvonne Diffley - The Secret Salon

1. What first sparked the idea for your business?

The idea for my salon came from a desire to create more than just a place to have your hair done. I wanted to build a space where clients could truly switch off from the demands of everyday life and feel cared for, listened to, and confident when they leave.

At the same time, I was passionate about creating an environment where talented professionals could grow, feel supported, and flourish in their careers. The salon was born from the belief that when people feel good — both clients and team — exceptional work naturally follows.

2. How would you describe what your business does best?

What we do best is combine outstanding hair services with genuine customer care. We focus on delivering a personalised experience for every client, ensuring they feel welcomed, relaxed, and valued from the moment they walk through the door.

Alongside our extensive service offering, our strength lies in teamwork, continuous education, and attention to detail — creating beautiful results while maintaining a calm, uplifting atmosphere for everyone who visits.

3. What advice would you tell yourself if you were starting over?

I would remind myself to trust the process and believe in my vision from the very beginning. Growth takes time, and challenges are part of building something meaningful.

I would also place even greater value on investing in people — nurturing a strong team culture is just as important as developing technical skills. Patience, consistency, and staying true to your values make all the difference.

4. Where do you see the business heading next?

The future of the business is centred on continued growth while maintaining the personal touch that defines us. I see us expanding our education, strengthening our team, and evolving our service offerings to meet the changing needs of our clients.

My goal is to keep raising standards within the salon industry while ensuring our space remains one where creativity, wellbeing, and excellence thrive together.

5. Do you have a personal motto you live by?

My personal motto is: “Create an environment where people feel their best, and success will follow.” I believe that when you lead with care, professionalism, and passion, you not only build a successful business — you build a community.
