After 39 wonderful years in business, Chic Beauty Salon & Laser Clinic, founded by Margaret McEntee, is preparing to close its doors in Longford and begin an exciting new chapter in Arva.

Margaret’s journey into the beauty industry was built on a strong foundation of care and professionalism. Prior to becoming a beautician, she spent 13 years in nursing, working in both general and psychiatric settings.

The roots of Chic Beauty Salon & Laser Clinic trace back to Granard, County Longford, where Margaret first established the business in 1987. Six years later, in 1993, she expanded and opened the salon in Longford town, starting out in a modest house on Dublin Street, which she carefully transformed into a small but welcoming beauty space.

A decade later, in 2002, Margaret made a significant investment to completely redevelop the premises, quadrupling its size and creating a modern, state-of-the-art salon that would go on to serve the community for many years.

Over the years, Chic Beauty Salon & Laser Clinic became known as a trusted, one-stop destination for a wide range of beauty treatments, including facials, waxing, make-up, brows, nails, tanning, electrolysis, manicures, pedicures, massage, colour analysis, and ear piercing.

In 2018, Margaret introduced a medical grade Laser Technology, Gentle Max Pro, becoming the first and only clinic of its kind in Longford, offering advanced treatments such as permanent hair removal, treatment of sun-damaged pigmentation, broken capillaries, rosacea, skin rejuvenation, anti-ageing solutions, as well as treatments for warts, verrucas, and nail fungus.

Reflecting on her journey, Margaret expressed deep gratitude for the loyal support she has received over more than three decades.

Many clients have been part of the salon’s story from the very beginning, forming lasting relationships that extend far beyond business. She also remembered those valued clients who have since passed, holding them in her thoughts and prayers.

“It has been such a privilege to serve the people of Longford over the past 33 years. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful and varied individuals, many of whom I am proud to call friends. Through all of life’s challenges, their support and kindness have meant so much. I have always endeavoured to provide the very best service and care to each and every client.”

Margaret extended her sincere thanks to her customers, dedicated staff (especially to Charity Patrick),her  loyal suppliers, neighbours on Dublin Street, and her family for their unwavering support throughout the years.

As this chapter comes to a close, a new one begins. Chic Beauty Salon & Laser Clinic will now relocate to Woodlands, Arva, Co Cavan (H12 NT68), where all existing services will continue to be offered. Clients can be assured that all appointments, credit notes, and vouchers will be honoured as usual at the new premises.

While there is sadness in leaving Longford, a town that has given so much, there is also a strong sense of optimism for what lies ahead.

“I am sad to leave Longford, which has been so good to me, but I am equally excited to begin this new chapter in Arva. I look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces to our new premises.”
