Vera Kiernan (née Daly), Rhyne, Killoe, Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Mullingar Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 22, 2026 of Vera Kiernan (née Daly), Rhyne, Killoe, Longford. 

Predeceased by her infant son Brendan-James, her parents James and May, sister Concepta and brother-in-law Pat. Vera will be sadly missed and forever remembered with love by her family, husband John-Joe, sons Robert, Adrian and Fintan, daughter-in-law Brid, Fintan's partner Michelle, sisters Annette (Athenry), Joan Lynch (Killucan, Westmeath), sisters-in-law Mary and Katriona, niece and nephews Assumpta, Ciaran and Declan, relatives, neighbours and her many life long friends. 'Forever loved, forever missed, forever in our hearts'. May Vera Rest in Peace.

Reposing on Saturday, January 24 in St Oliver's Church, Cullyfad from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal from her home on Sunday, Janiuary 25 to arrive to St. Oliver's Church, Cullyfad for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Vera will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. John McGuinness, Ballinree, Edgeworthstown, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, after a short illness bravely borne, surrounded by his loving family in the care of the nurses and staff at St Mark's Unit at the Hermitage Clinic, Lucan on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 of John McGuinness, Ballinree, Edgeworthstown, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Al and Catherine and his sister Monica. Sadly missed by his loving wife Marie, his daughters Carol and Anne, son Alan, his sister Mary O' Loughlin, his nephew Hugh and niece Katie, his grandchildren Jack, Katie, Steven, Michael, Ben, Tom and Eden, his sons-in-law Martin Halpin and Neville Mills, daughter-in-law Adie McGuinness, sisters-in-law Bernadette and Imelda, brother-in-law Shay, neighbours, relatives and many friends. Rest in peace.

Reposing in St Brigid's Church, Ardagh on Thursday evening, January 22, 2026 from 6pm with Prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, January 23 at 1pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. The Funeral Mass may be viewed online here. House private please.

Pete McLoughlin, Clonahard, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 of Pete McLoughlin, Clonahard, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents John and Mary and by his sister Róisín O’Flynn. Pete will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sister Maura (Cork), brother-in-law John, niece Johanna (Forde), nephews Willie-John and Finbarr, niece-in-law Anne, nephew-in-law Nicholas, grand-niece Philippa, grand-nephew Adam, relatives, exceptional neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford (N39 EC81) on Sunday, January 25 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, January 26 in St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford at 11am, interment afterwards in Ardagh cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home for their care and kindness shown to Pete during his time there.

Rose Dennigan (née Gilchrist), Treel, Ardagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the excellent care of the staff at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 of Rose Dennigan (née Gilchrist), Treel, Ardagh, Longford and formerly of Trillick, Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband Tom and her brothers Declan and John. Deeply regretted by her loving sons Liam and Thomas, her daughter Nora Whyte (Ballymore), her daughters-in-law Mary and Maggie, son-in-law Terry, devoted grandmother of Gareth, Lorcan, Cormac, Grace, Conor, Christopher, Darragh, Daniel and Gemma. Sadly missed by her sisters Teresa Quinn (Moydow), Mary Carty (Boyle) and Diane Rohan (Dublin), brothers Pat (Dublin) and Mike (Longford), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in peace.

Richard McGarry, Clondra, Longford

The death occurred on Thursday, January 15, 2026 of Richard McGarry of Eymet, France; Bradford, England; Miami, Florida and Johannesburg, South Africa; originally Clondra, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Richard and Chris McGarry. Sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife Deborah, his children Shannon, Catherine, Nicholas, Matthew and Martin, son-in-law Ryan, daughters-in-law Leonie and Lilla, grandchildren Dylan, Emilia and Dahlia. brothers Michael and Paul, sisters Adele (Summers) and Suzanne (McCormack), brothers-in-law John and Micheal, sisters-in-law Jane and Rachel, all his nieces, nephews and cousins. May he rest in peace.

Richard's Funeral will leave Pauly Funeral Pompe, Chemin de la Sole, 24500 Eymet at 3.15pm for his Funeral service at 4.10pm at 46 rue de l'Espinasat, 24100 Bergerac. Drinks to follow at Richard's Home at 26 Rue du Loup, Eymet thereafter.

Diarmuid McGuinness, The Donahies, Dublin / Mullahoran, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Bon Secours Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 17, 2026 of Diarmuid McGuinness, The Donahies, Dublin 13 and formerly of Mullahoran, Co Cavan and Aughavas, Co Leitrim.

Diarmuid will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend Olive, daughter Éadaoin, his sons Ciaran (Catherine), Diarmuid (Elaine), Ronan (Leah) and Brían, his cherished grandchildren, Seán, Síofra, Níamh, Caoimhe, Ciara and Cillian, his sisters Maureen, Dympna and Carmel, brothers Seán, Fr. Ciaran, Killian, Conleth, Pre-deceased by his parents Phillip and Sheila, sisters Patricia and Rita, brothers Conor, Phillip, Declan and Aidan and brothers-in-law Stephen and Micheál. Diarmuid’s family would like to sincerely thank the Doctors, Nurses, staff and chaplains of the Bon Secours Hospital who took great care of Diarmuid and all the care workers who attended to Diarmuid at home. Reposing at Jennings Funeral Home, Oscar Traynor Road, Coolock D17 FK58 on Thursday afternoon, January 22 from 3pm to 5pm. Removal on Friday morning, January 23 to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Donaghmede arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by cremation in Dardistown Crematorium.
