The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 19, 2026 of John Mulligan, Ballyduffy, Moyne, Co Longford. Predeceased by his adored wife Mary and son Sean.
Remembered with love and sadly missed by his heartbroken family, daughter Mary, sons Michael, James, Peter, Danny and David, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Jenny, Shane, Aaron, Josh, Sean, Emma, Maria, and James, extended family, many good friends and neighbours. May He Rest In Peace.
Reposing at Kelly’s Funeral Home, Athlone Road Longford (N39 K381) on Wednesday, January 21 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday,  January 22 in St Francis Xavier’s Church, Moyne arriving at 11am, followed by burial in adjoining Cemetery. The mass can be viewed live HERE
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the all the staff of Cavan Hospital, Dr Sean Moran and all the homecare team, who cared for Dad up to his very last day. House private at all times, please.
Bernard Leahy, Connolly Crescent, Longford Town, Longford
The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 of Bernard Leahy, Connolly Crescent, Longford Town, Longford. 

Bernard will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, beloved wife Jenny, daughters Sylvia, Lorraine and Annette, grandchildren Kyle, Deon, Morgan, Caius and Senan, son-in-law Anthony, Sylvia’s partner David, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, the McGrath family (Clonmel) and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Friday, January 23 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, January 24 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium Cavan at 2pm. Michael Blessington, (Rhyne Rock) Coolcor, Granard, Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly but peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 18, 2026 of Michael Blessington, (Rhyne Rock) Coolcor, Granard, Longford. 

Predeceased by his infant son Paul Francis, his parents Eugene and Annie and their infant son Tom. His sister Margaret. Brothers Janey and Tom.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Settie (Rose), sons Niall, David (Annie) and daughter Fiona (Micheàl Gettings), grandchildren Ben, Layla, Evelyn, Owen, Emily, Maria and Luke, brother Declan, sisters Marie Reilly (Pete) and Bridget Hays, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. May he Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Granard (N39AX97) on Wednesday, January 21 from 5pm to 8pm. Removal to St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Thursday January 22 for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in Granardkille Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed HERE

Kevin Dalton, Newtownforbes, Ballinalee, Longford / Newtownforbes, Longford

The death occurred on Friday, January 16, 2026 of Kevin Dalton, McArt Meadows, Leitrim Cross, Newtownforbes, Co Longford and formerly of Castlebrock, Ballinalee, Co Longford.  

Predeceased by his father Jimmy and by his brothers Patrick and Seamus. Kevin will be sadly missed and remembered with love by heartbroken mother Kay (nee Connell) and her partner Brendan, sisters Caroline Kiely and Geraldine, brothers-in-law Thomas and Stephen, cherished nieces and nephews Michaela, Jimmy, Kaitlyn, Kelly-rose, Nicole, Callum, Tommy and Zach, aunts, uncles, relatives and many friends both in Ireland and Chicago. May he rest in peace.

Frank Gill, Creagh, Kenagh, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home Edgeworthstown, surrounded by his family on Sunday January 18, 2026 of Frank Gill, Creagh, Kenagh, Co Longford.

Pre-deceased by his parents John and Mary-ann, sisters Kathleen Kilduff and Helen Gouldsbury and by his brother Johnny. Frank will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sisters Peggy (Lynch), Betty (Parker), Susan (McDermott), Pauline (McLoughlin), Caroline (Coffey), Ann (Hewitt), Bernie (Corrigan) and Tecla (Vernon), brothers Peter and Pat, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at St. Dominic’s Church, Kenagh on Tuesday, January 20 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection in St Dominic’s Church at 12 noon on Wednesday, January 21 interment afterwards in Kilcommock cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if desired to Longford Hospice, c/o Glennon Funeral Directors or any family member.

Eileen Keeley (née Egan), Upper Ferefad, Longford town, Co Longford / Kilbeggan, Westmeath

The death occurred unexpectedly but peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar, surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 18, 2026 of Eileen Keeley (nee Egan), Upper Ferefad, Longford and formerly of Rahugh, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.

Pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Eileen and by her step-mother Margaret. Eileen will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, beloved husband Paddy, sisters Maureen Lynch, brothers P.J., Joseph and Michael, uncle Tom Lee, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, godchildren Niamh, Darragh and Michael, nieces, nephews, good neighbours, loyal companion Baba and friends. May she rest in peace.

Diarmuid McGuinness, The Donahies, Dublin / Mullahoran, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Bon Secours Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 17, 2026 of Diarmuid McGuinness, The Donahies, Dublin 13 and formerly of Mullahoran, Co Cavan and Aughavas, Co Leitrim.

Diarmuid will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend Olive, daughter Éadaoin, his sons Ciaran (Catherine), Diarmuid (Elaine), Ronan (Leah) and Brían, his cherished grandchildren, Seán, Síofra, Níamh, Caoimhe, Ciara and Cillian, his sisters Maureen, Dympna and Carmel, brothers Seán, Fr. Ciaran, Killian, Conleth, Pre-deceased by his parents Phillip and Sheila, sisters Patricia and Rita, brothers Conor, Phillip, Declan and Aidan and brothers-in-law Stephen and Micheál. Diarmuid’s family would like to sincerely thank the Doctors, Nurses, staff and chaplains of the Bon Secours Hospital who took great care of Diarmuid and all the care workers who attended to Diarmuid at home. Reposing at Jennings Funeral Home, Oscar Traynor Road, Coolock D17 FK58 on Thursday afternoon, January 22 from 3pm to 5pm. Removal on Friday morning, January 23 to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Donaghmede arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am followed by cremation in Dardistown Crematorium. 

The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE on Friday morning, January 23 at 10am. The Crematorium Service will be streamed live HERECremation times may vary depending on availability in the crematorium. Mary Salmon (née Fagan), Castlegrove, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath

The death occurred suddenly but peacefully at her residence on Sunday, January 18, 2026 of Mary Salmon (nee Fagan), Castlegrove, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath. 

Predeceased by her father Michael, son Martin and grand daughter Faith. Sadly missed by her loving husband Christy, sons Alan and Shane, her mother Annie and sister Valerie, brothers Edward, Míchael, Martin and Darren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, daughter-in-law Una, Alan's partner Deirdre, grandchildren Éabha, Clodagh and Darragh, nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, cousins, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Mary Rest in Peace.

Reposing at her son Shane's house Bratty Road Castlepollard (Eircode N91 XK09) on Wednesday January 21 from 4pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Joan Nea, Castlepollard, Westmeath

The death occurred at home, surrounded by her loving and heartbroken family after battling a long illness on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Joan Nea, Basildon, Essex, England and formerly of Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, aged 82.

Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly missed by her loving children Pauline, Stephen and Tina, her adored grandchildren Nichola, Melissa, Martha, Siobhan and Kieran, great-grandchildren Leonyedus, Eoin, Patrick and Ahreay, daughter-in-law Lorraine, son-in-law Paul, Nichola's partner Tony, Melissa's partner Leon, Martha's husband Noel; brother David and his family in Australia; and a wide circle of friends.
