Kathleen Ryan (née McCabe), Clonmore, Lismacaffrey, Westmeath / Granard, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the care of her loving family at Regional Hospital Mullingar on Monday, December 22, 2025 of Kathleen Ryan (née McCabe), Clonmore, Lismacaffrey, Westmeath and formerly of Tober, Granard, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband William Ryan, parents Margaret and Patrick McCabe, and brother Packi-Joe McCabe RIP. Deeply regretted by her children Margaret, Anne, Billy, Paul, (Frances), Irene and Carmel, (Niall). Brothers Sean, Brendan and Frank, sister Margaret (Rosie), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brother-in-law John, sisters-in-law Noreen, Nora, Jenny and Joan, relatives, neighbours, friends and her wonderful carers. May She Rest In Peace. 

Kathleen will repose at Smith's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Granard Co. Longford (eircode N39AX97) on Friday, December 26 from 4pm to 6pm. Removal to St Mary's Church Granard on Saturday, December 27 for Funeral Mass at 2pm followed by burial in Granardkill Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed online HERE

Charlie Doyle, Mosstown, Kenagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar on Monday, December 22, 2025 of Charlie Doyle, Mosstown, Kenagh, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Bernard & May, his brother Tommy, nephew Gavin and grandnephew Thomas. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Betty. His brothers Brian & Sean, his sisters-in-law Irene, Tess, Anne and Breda, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends & neighbours. May he Rest in Peace. 

Reposing in St Dominic's Church, Kenagh this Tuesday evening, December 23 from 5pm until 7pm followed by prayers. Funeral mass on Wednesday, December 24 Christmas Eve at 12 noon followed by burial in Shrule Cemetery.

May Cheevers (née Cryan), Killashee Street, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Mullingar Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 22, 2025 of May Cheevers (née Cryan), Killashee Street, Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband John, parents Patrick and Elizabeth and her sister Annie (Nan). May will be sadly missed by her family, her son Richie, daughter-in-law Angie, her adored grandchildren Rachel and Gemma, sister Bridget (Sligo), brothers Pat (Sligo) and John (Tipperary), nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

No matter how life changes, No matter what we do, A special place within our hearts, Will always be kept for you. Rest in Peace May. Removal arriving to St Mel's Cathedral, Longford on Tuesday, December 23 for prayers at 6pm.

Funeral Mass onWednesday, December 24 at 11am. Following Mass, May will be laid to rest in the family plot in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed live HERE. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Longford Hospice c/o Connell Funeral Directors or any family member.

Evelyn McGowan (née Fallon), Lack, Whitehall, Tarmonbarry, Roscommon / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Mullingar Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, December 21, 2025 of Evelyn McGowan (née Fallon), Lack, Whitehall, Tarmonbarry, Roscommon / Longford. Predeceased by her husband, Michael John; sons, Benedict and Padraic; daughters-in–law Mary and Liz; son-in-law Martin Collum; granddaughter Catherine; her parents Mary Kate and Charles; her brothers Charlie Joe and Michael, and her sister Kathleen.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Geraldine Collum (Ballinamuck), Gabrielle Devine (Derryharrow), Nuala Lack; and son-in-law, Kevin Devine. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sisters, Ethel Carroll (Kilmore), Margaret Glynn (Mullingar) and Charlotte Morgan (Fore); her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. House strictly private please.

Removal to the Sacred Heart Church, Whitehall on Tuesday evening, December 23 arriving for 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning, December 24 at 11am, with burial afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery, Longford. Evelyn's funeral Mass can be viewed HERE.  Family flowers only, donations in lieu if desired to the heart foundation, care of Tom Crosby Funeral Undertaker Tarmonbarry or any family member.

Patricia (Patsy) McGovern, Mohill, Leitrim

The death occurred in the wonderful care of the staff at Arus Carolan Nursing Home in Mohill on Monday, December 22, 2025 of Patricia (Patsy) McGovern, Mohill, Leitrim. 

Patsy is predeceased by her loving husband Phil and will be sadly missed by her sister Bernadette, her nieces and nephews, relatives, her good friend Declan Feeney and other friends and neighbours.

Funeral arrangements to follow.

Joan Nea, Castlepollard, Westmeath

The death occurred at home, surrounded by her loving and heartbroken family after battling a long illness on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Joan Nea, Basildon, Essex, England and formerly of Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, aged 82.

Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly missed by her loving children Pauline, Stephen and Tina, her adored grandchildren Nichola, Melissa, Martha, Siobhan and Kieran, great-grandchildren Leonyedus, Eoin, Patrick and Ahreay, daughter-in-law Lorraine, son-in-law Paul, Nichola's partner Tony, Melissa's partner Leon, Martha's husband Noel; brother David and his family in Australia; and a wide circle of friends.
