The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 12, 2025 of Johnny Macken, Macken's Filling Station and Publican, Granard, Longford. 

Predeceased by his son Jimmy, daughter Paula (in infancy), parents Jimmy and Cecilia, brother Jimmy, sister Doris, sister-in-law Marie, brother-in-law Tommy and nephew Conor .

Johnny will be sadly and forever missed by his loving wife Mona, daughter Fiona (Michael), son John (Ciara). His adoring grandchildren Aoibhínn, James, Saoirse and Rhia. His brothers Benny and Eddie, sisters-in-law Sheila, Kathi, Susanne and Laura, brothers-in-law Ken and Séan, nephews, nieces, relatives and a wide circle of friends and neighbours. May He Rest In Peace. 

Reposing at Smith’s Funeral home Barrack Street, Granard, Co. Longford (Eircode N39AX97) on Sunday, December 14 from 3pm to 6pm. Removal on Monday, December 15 to St Mary’s Church Granard for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by Christian burial in Granardkill Cemetery.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, December 14 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, December 15 in St.Mel’s Cathedral at 1pm, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The death occurred peacefully after a short illness at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar on Friday, December 12, 2025 of James Kearney, Longford and formerly of Granard and Viewmount House. 

Predeceased by his parents Eugene and Rose Ann, sister Evelyn and by his brother Padraig. James will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his heartbroken wife Beryl, sister Margaret, brothers Michael, Eugene and Hugh, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred on Friday, December 12, 2025 of Maria Crehan, Ballyreaghan, Ballinalee, Co Longford. Predeceased by her father Tom. Sadly missed by her heartbroken family, mother Rose, sister Jackie, brothers Des and Thomas, brother in law Stephen, nephews William and Daniel, aunts, neighbours and her many friends. The death occurred in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown, surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 13, 2025 of Pat Prior, Rathcline road, Lanesboro and formerly of Swanlinbar (Ex- Detective Sergeant, An Garda Síochána). 

Predeceased by his beloved wife Bridie, dear daughter Helena, parents Patrick and Lena and by his brothers John, Hugh and James. Pat will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughter Michelle, son Ciaran, daughter-in-law Jacqui, grandsons Paul, Shane and Richard, sister Kathleen, brothers Oliver and T.P., sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Anne Gormley (née Tierney), 4 Devine Crescent, Edgeworthstown, Longford / Limerick

The death occurred peacefully after a short illness in the wonderful care of the staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital and in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, December 13, 2025 of Anne Gormley (née Tierney), 4 Devine Crescent, Edgeworthstown, Longford / Limerick. 

Anne will be sadly missed by her loving family, sons Dermot, Barry and Brian and daughter Linda, their partners Lisa, Carmel and Ollie, grandchildren Jack, Makayla, James, Meghan, Shauna, Dylan, Jake and Stephen, great grandchildren Regan, Mila and Shae, brother Moss and sister Liz, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Joseph (Joe) Hackett, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025 of Joseph (Joe) Hackett, Camberley, Surrey, England and formerly of Longford Town. 

Predeceased by his parents Joe and Tess, brothers Raymond and baby Christopher and by Eithne. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving family, daughters Laura and Eva and also by his son Luke, daughter Eleanor and their mother Jacqui, his beloved grandchildren, sisters Marie, Teresa, Kathleen, Dymphna and Deloras, brothers Zack and Martin, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

John Gill, Birmingham and formerly of Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Birmingham on Saturday, November 22, 2025 of John Gill, Birmingham and formerly of Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Tom and Mary (née Ross) and his brothers Francie and Tommy. John will be sadly missed by his loving family, wife Bridie (née Lyons) Mayo, sons John and Brendan, daughters Marion and Colette,his adored grandchildren Joe, Lily and Jimmy Gaffney, Tom and Orlaith Lehany, sons-in-law Michael Gaffney and Des Lehany, daughter-in-law Helen, brother Peter (Ballinamuck), sister Margaret (Ohio), relatives and his wonderful neighbours and friends in Birmingham and Longford.

Removal to arrive to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Billesley, Birmingham on Wednesday, December 17 at 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 18 at 11am. Following Mass, John will be laid to rest in Wythall Cemetery.

Gavin (Gav) O'Donovan, Ballyleague, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 of Gavin (Gav) O'Donovan, Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Roscommon (aged 59). 

Predeceased by his parents Denis and Betty. Father of Sam and Erinn, grandfather of Wren, Mara and Owen. Missed by his sisters Denise and Maria, daughter-in-law Holly, son-in-law Dean, niece Saoirse, extended family, very close friends and neighbours. Funeral Arrangements Later

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 of Cynthia O'Reilly, Templemichael Glebe, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her parents John and Rose, sisters Pauline, Barbara, Christine, Alice and Rosaleen and by her brothers John Joe, Brendan, Patrick and Joseph.

Cynthia will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, sister Francis (U.K.), nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Margaret Clews (née Nesbitt), Moher, Dromod, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, at Sligo University Hospital following a long illness bravely borne on Sunday, December 14, 2025 of Margaret Clews (née Nesbitt), Moher, Dromod, Co Leitrim. 

Beloved wife of David and dear mother to Ann McDonnell (Kilmacannon), Terry (Rooskey) and Sinead Overgaard (Rooskey). Sadly missed by her family, sons in law Dominic and Ulrik, daughter in law Andrea, her adored grandson Danny, sister Brenda Hurdyal, nieces Wendy and Hervin, brothers in law, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

The death occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Peter Wynne, Drumconney, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Peter was predeceased by his parents Tommy and Catherine, brothers Tommy and Joe. Peter will be greatly missed by his heartbroken and loving wife Jenny, children Donna, Sinead (Declan), Ciaran, Leona (Reymond), Lorna, (Thomas) Tommy, Kevin (Wendy), Sarah and Joseph (Sarah), Sister Kathleen McGarry. The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Roscommon Hospiceon on Saturday, December 13, 2025 of Michael Whelan (O’Faolain), Killianiker House, Rooskey, Co Leitrim.

Predeceased by his baby son Gerard, parents Joseph and Bridget, sisters Bernie, Teresa and Kathleen, brother Joe and nephew PJ. Fr Thomas Patrick Reynolds, St Columban's, Dalgan Park, Navan, Meath / Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred in the exceptional care of the nursing and care staff at St. Columban's Nursing Home, after an illness borne with acceptance on Sunday, December 14, 2025 of Thomas Reynolds, (TP) Missionary Society of St Columban, formerly of Strokestown, Co Roscommon, USA, Peru and Dalgan, Navan. 

Predeceased by his parents Thomas Patrick and Annie Teresa (nee Conboy), brothers Dono and George an sister Colette and Attracta. Much loved by his brother Michael and sister Teresa. and sister-in-law Carmel his many nieces and nephews. grandnieces and grandnephews and his Columban Missionaries family, friends and neighbours. Teresa Morris (née Gilgan), The Square, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim / Ballisodare, Sligo

It is with great sadness that we announce the death peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family aged 91 years on Saturday, November 22, 2025 of Teresa Morris (née Gilgan), Hornchurch, Essex, UK, formerly of Kilmacowen, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo, and The Square, (The Spar Supermarket), Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim.

Teresa is predeceased by husband John, son John, parents Patrick and Margaret (née Bree), and her brothers & sisters Michael James, Kathleen, Myra, Peggy, Patrick and Mary. Teresa will be deeply missed and remembered always by her loving children Theresa, Patricia, Geraldine, Pauline, Alan & daughter-in-law Nam, Margaret & son-in-law Kevin; her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The death occurred peacefully at Tallaght University Hospital surrounded by her loving family, following an illness bravely borne on Friday, December 12, 2025 of Goretti Behan (née Farrell), The Hill, Robertstown, Co Kildare and late of Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 and Castletown Finea, Co Westmeath.  

Deeply regretted by her loving husband James, daughters Margaret and Jamie, sons James and Wayne, daughters-in-law Lauren and Christine, sons-in-law James and Dean, grandchildren Shauna, Amy, Aaron, Leejay and Tia-Kate, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and her beloved dog Gracie. Joan Nea, Castlepollard, Westmeath

The death occurred at home, surrounded by her loving and heartbroken family after battling a long illness on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Joan Nea, Basildon, Essex, England and formerly of Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, aged 82.

Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly missed by her loving children Pauline, Stephen and Tina, her adored grandchildren Nichola, Melissa, Martha, Siobhan and Kieran, great-grandchildren Leonyedus, Eoin, Patrick and Ahreay, daughter-in-law Lorraine, son-in-law Paul, Nichola's partner Tony, Melissa's partner Leon, Martha's husband Noel; brother David and his family in Australia; and a wide circle of friends.
