The death occurred peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Rose Kelly (nee Purcell), Shantobar, Ballinalee, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband Daniel. Sadly missed by her sons Daniel and Alan, daughter-in-law Poornima, grandchild Sanjay, relatives and friends. May Rose Rest in Peace.

Funeral Service will take place in the Garden Chapel Mount Jerome Crematorium on Saturday, December 13 at 1:30pm followed by Cremation. Service can be viewed live HERE. Private messages of condolence can be left on the Lawless Funeral Website HERE

Gerry McKenna, Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 of Gerry McKenna, Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Longford. 

Predeceased by his mother Cathy, father Francis, his brothers Patrick, Francie and Michael, sisters Maryrose, Sadie and Ellie Jo and granddaughter Katelyn. Gerry will be sadly missed by his loving wife Veronica, sons and daughters, Marie Delaney (Kilkenny), Gerard (Westport), Sadie (Longford Town), Fiona (Ballinamuck), Deirdre McEvoy (Ballinamuck), Veronica Donohoe (Moyne), and Damien (Ballinamuck), sons-in-law John, Benny and Eamonn, daughters-in-law Mary and Sharon, his sisters Kathleen Richards (London) and Teresa O’Neill (New York), his adored grandchildren Stephen, Eoin, Chloe, Ciara (Delaney), Katie, Cáelán (McKenna), Aaron, Rian (McKenna), Shaun (Donnelly), Dawn, Elischa (McKenna), Rory, Rachael, Michael, Sarah, Holly (McEvoy), Tara (Donohue), Lara, Ava, Paidi (McKenna), great-grandchildren Sean and Harrison, sister-in-law Agnes McKenna (Ballinamuck), brother-in-law Peter Richards (London), nieces, nephews, extended relatives, good neighbours and friends. May he Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his home in Fardromin, Ballinamuck, N39 K8Y7 on Friday, December 12 from 4pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. As access is limited to the house, a shuttle bus service will run from The 98 Bar, Ballinamuck (Eircode N39 CP04). People of low mobility are welcome to travel directly to the family home. Please follow the directions of our stewards.

Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, December 13 at 11am in St Patrick’s Church, Ballinamuck, followed by interment in Ballinamuck new cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Irish Cancer Research care of Dillon & Shepherd Funeral Directors, any family member or online by clicking HERE. House strictly private outside of reposing times please.

John Francis Leech, Viewmount, Longford Town, Longford / Naas, Kildare

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 of John Francis Leech, Viewmount, Dublin Road, Longford and formerly of Naas, Co Kildare. 

Predeceased by his parents John and Monica and by his brother Joe. John will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, beloved wife Elizabeth, daughter Michelle, sons Jason and Marc, son-in-law Andrew Erskine, grandchildren Sam, Noah and Isabel, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, December 13 in The Church of Our Lady and St David, Naas at 10am, interment afterwards in St Corban’s cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE. House private please. 

Hanna O’Brien, Sandymount, Dublin / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in her 95th year in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 of Hanna O’Brien, Sandymount, Dublin and formerly of Park Road, Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Dan and Mary Ann, sisters Kathleen, Bridie, Rosaleen, Guina and Pauline, brothers Thomas, Danny and Seamus, nieces Ann and Miriam and by her nephew Tom. Hanna will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, sisters-in-law Isabel and Anne, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her niece Christine’s residence (Park Road, Longford - N39 P5V0) on Thursday, December 11 from 6pm until 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, December 12 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 1pm, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE

Patrick (Pat) Doogue, Norsemans Place, Stoneybatter, Dublin / Killoe, Longford

The death occurred suddenly but peacefully in his home on Monday, December 8, 2025 of Patrick (Pat) Doogue, Norsemans Place, Stoneybatter, Dublin and formerly of Crieve, Killoe, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his beloved parents Billy and Maisie. Patrick will be sadly missed by his family and friends, his aunt Mary (Chapel St, Longford), his many dear cousins Eamon, (Marie, Hugh, Aileen & James), (Liam, Neelofar & Yasmeen), (Eileen & Pat), (Linda & Aisling), (Brian, Karen, Rory & Conor), his wonderful neighbours and friends.

Softly within the shadows, There came a gentle call, With farewells left unspoken, You quietly left us all. Rest in Peace Pat. Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 13 at 11am in St Oliver's Church, Cullyfad, Killoe, (N39 CD39). Following Mass, Pat will be laid to rest in the family plot in the adjoining Cemetery.

 

Cynthia O'Reilly, Templemichael Glebe, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 of Cynthia O'Reilly, Templemichael Glebe, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her parents John and Rose, sisters Pauline, Barbara, Christine, Alice and Rosaleen and by her brothers John Joe, Brendan, Patrick and Joseph.

Cynthia will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, sister Francis (U.K.), nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Removal from Glennon’s Funeral Home on Monday, December 15 to arrive at St Mel’s Cathedral for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. Peter Wynne, Drumconney, Mohill, Leitrim / Gortletteragh, Leitrim

The death occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025 of Peter Wynne, Drumconney, Mohill, Co Leitrim.

Peter was predeceased by his parents Tommy and Catherine, brothers Tommy and Joe. Peter will be greatly missed by his heartbroken and loving wife Jenny, children Donna, Sinead (Declan), Ciaran, Leona (Reymond), Lorna, (Thomas) Tommy, Kevin (Wendy), Sarah and Joseph (Sarah), Sister Kathleen McGarry. Peter will be fondly remembered by his cherished grandchildren Hannah, Joshua, Noah, Jamie, Ella, Jayden, Patrick, Dylan, Charlie, and Croia , nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his heartbroken family on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 of Laurence (Larry) Masterson, Hilltown, Tonashammer, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath. 

Predeceased by his baby son Gerard, parents Joseph and Bridget, sisters Bernie, Teresa and Kathleen, brother Joe and nephew PJ. Deeply regretted by his broken-hearted wife of 66 years, Kathleen (née Foy); daughters Mary (Tommy), Catherine (Christopher), Loretta (Mick), Caroline, Fiona (Joe), Celine (Declan) and Annette (Niall); sons Laurence (Elaine), Michael and Kieran; grandchildren Donal, Darren, Siobhan, Christopher, Danielle, Sarah, Rebecca, Caitlin, Lorcan, Caragh, Phelim and Conor; great-grandchildren Seanie and Fiachra; brothers Bartle and Paddy; nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the doctors and nurses at Mayo University Hospital on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 of Lena Fahy, Cloonfad, Tibohine and formerly of Strokestown, Co Roscommon (November 12, 1952 - December 9, 2025).

Predeceased by her partner Com Callaghan, parents Des and Sheila, brother Paddy and her sisters Concepta and Audrey. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her sisters Jacqueline, Elaine, Dympna, Patricia and her brothers Adrian, Paul and Declan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Lena will repose in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Friday, December 12 from 5pm until 6.30pm, followed by private committal service in Sharkey’s Cremation Chapel, Loughglynn. 

Stephen Reilly, Finea, Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully at the age of 91 years at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 of Stephen Reilly, Finea Village, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas & Brigid, his brothers Sean, Seamus and Tommy. His sisters Maureen, Nellie, Marguerite. Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary for 56 years, son Noel, daughters Stephanie (Sean), Aine (Terry), Carmel (Neil),Mairead (Tomo) and twelve grandchildren, Sisters-in-law,brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Rest in peace Stephen.

Reposing at St Mary’s Church, Finea (N91VW82) on Thursday, December 11 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Funeral mass on Friday, December 12 at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Finea. Teresa Morris (née Gilgan), The Square, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim / Ballisodare, Sligo

It is with great sadness that we announce the death peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family aged 91 years on Saturday, November 22, 2025 of Teresa Morris (née Gilgan), Hornchurch, Essex, UK, formerly of Kilmacowen, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo, and The Square, (The Spar Supermarket), Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim.

Teresa is predeceased by husband John, son John, parents Patrick and Margaret (née Bree), and her brothers & sisters Michael James, Kathleen, Myra, Peggy, Patrick and Mary. Teresa will be deeply missed and remembered always by her loving children Theresa, Patricia, Geraldine, Pauline, Alan & daughter-in-law Nam, Margaret & son-in-law Kevin; her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. May Teresa’s gentle soul rest in peace.

Teresa’s funeral will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 10:45am in St Alban’s Catholic Church, Langdale Gardens, Hornchurch, RM12 5LA. Interment will follow at 12:15pm at South Essex Cemetery, Ockendon Rd, Upminster, RM14 2UY.
