The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 of Mary Sheridan (nee Brennan), Allenagh, Carriglass, Longford. 

Pre-deceased by her father Michael and by her infant brother Pat. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, her beloved husband Frankie, daughters Elaine and Claire, sons David and Kevin, mother Margaret, sisters Bríd, Cáit, Eileen and Detta, brothers Stephen, P.J. and Micheál, daughters-in-law Aisling and Aoife, sons-in-law Dave and Steve, grandchildren Sadhbh, Donncha, Síofra, Naoise, Daithí, Faye, Ingrid, Joni, Ultan and Aida, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Thursday, September 25 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Predeceased by her husband Joe, her sisters Brede, Kay and Chris and her brothers Seamus, Tommy and Paddy. Barbara Helen Mary Pryce (née Richardson), Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully and in the exceptional care of the staff of The Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown on Saturday, September 20, 2025 of Barbara Helen Mary Pryce (née Richardson), Fardromin, Ballinamuck, Co Longford, and formerly of Blackpool England, Scotland and France.

Predeceased by her parents, her partner Moira, brother Norman and sister June. Barbara will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her loving sons, David and Chris, cherished grandchildren Imogen, Anneka, Clarissa and Alessandro adored great-grandchildren Evangeline and Daniel, cousins, relatives, good friends and neighbours.

Eileen Nulty (née Keane), Ardanragh, Legan, Longford / Tuam, Galway

The death occurred peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 22, 2025 of Eileen Nulty (nee Keane) Ardanragh, Legan, Co Longford/ Tuam, Co Galway.

Predeceased by her parents Richard and Nora Keane, her son Alan, sister Mary and brothers Billy, Christy and Tony. She will be sadly missed by her husband James (Max), her daughters Kate, Jacqueline, Helen, Brenda, Tanya and Lisa, her sons Paul, David and James. Sons-in -law Padraig, Patrick, Pa, Ivan, Brendan and Alex. Daughters-in-law Carmel, Emily and Caroline. Grandchildren Kaela, Ty, Skye, Ruby, Amber, Jack, Jade, Ally, Leah, Ella, Evan, Esme, Matilda, Ellie Mai, Delilah and Freddie. Her great grandsons; Brogan, Lee, Bodhi and Milo, her brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Thinking of you Mam is easy, we will do it every day. Kathleen Whooley (née Madden), Tawa, Wellington, New Zealand and formerly Four Mile House, Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by family in Wellington, New Zealand on Saturday, September 20, 2025 of Kathleen Whooley (nee Madden), Born 4 July 1928 Four Mile House, Strokestown, County Roscommon. 

After emigrating to New Zealand in 1952 Kathleen lived her life in Tawa, Wellington. Dearly loved wife of the late Denis. Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Mike & Isobel, John, Trish & Neil, Denis (dec), Anne-Marie & Chris, and Kevin (dec). Grandmother to Josh, Tara, Erin, Keiran, Jennifer, Rowan, Gerard, Earl, Louisa and Laurie and 13 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of Bupa, Crofton Downs, Wellington for their care of Kathleen.

Rosary will be held at 10 Mariners Way, Whitby (New Zealand) on Wednesday, September 24 at 7pm. The funeral service will be held for Kathleen in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 169 Main Road, Tawa, on Thursday, September 25 at 10.30am with livestream of the funeral service at www.kcfhvenues.nz

The death occurred unexpectedly in her 92nd year at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 of Eileen Greene (née Kelly) Station Rd, Ballina, Co. Mayo and formerly of Carrowreagh, Castleplunkett, Co. Roscommon.

Eileen predeceased by her husband Bernard (Bennie), parents John and Molly Kelly, siblings Sean, Fred, Peggy Danaher and baby Josephine. Adored mother to Geraldine Cussen (Maynooth), Mairéad Ryan (Thurles), Patricia O’Dwyer (Ennis), Bernard (Leitrim Village), Oliver (Maynooth), Ray (Donabate), and Caroline Barry (Killala).

The death occurred suddenly in the wonderful care of nurses and staff at Home in Le Cheile House on Sunday, September 21, 2025 of Marie Griffith, Le Cheile House, Ranaghan, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and formerly of Beech Grove, Mullingar, CoWestmeath.

Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Marie will be sadly missed by her brothers and by her sister, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and extended family. Marie will also be missed by her friends in Le Cheile, in Beechgrove and Cill Cuain. May Marie gentle soul rest in peace.

The Funeral Service will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Powerscourt, Enniskerry, on Thursday, September 25 at 11am. The Ceremony will be led by his friends, the Reverend Caroline Brennan, Curate and Ms Carol Barry, Parish Reader, Kilternan Parish. Following the Funeral Service James will be laid to rest in the Churchyard, Kilternan Parish Church. Rest in Peace.

Sr Winifred Donlon, Manchester, UK & Moydow, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the sisters and staff of St Euphrasia's Convent, Chain road, Manchester on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 of Sr Winifred Donlon, Manchester, UK and Moydow, Co Longford. 

Sr Winifred was pre-deceased by her parents Patrick and Lena Donlon and siblings; Jack, Betty, Tom, Paddy, Mel, Fr James OFM, Charlie and Teresa, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Much loved and deeply regretted by her Good Shepherd sisters, her brother Tony (Oregon USA), nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and extended family.

Conor Gearty, Abbeylara, Co Longford

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing on Thursday, September 11, 2025 of Professor Conor Anthony Gearty Kentish Town, London; formerly of Abbeylara, County Longford. 

A distinguished human rights lawyer and proud Longford man, Conor was a fantastic husband, an adored dad, a wonderful brother and son, and a warm generous friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his wife Aoife, his children Eliza, Owen, Èile and Fiadh, his mother Margot, his brother Frank, his sisters Rhona, Catherine, Margaret and Sarah, their partners and children, his in-laws, and his wide circle of friends, neighbours and colleagues. He is predeceased by his late wife Diane and his father Enda.

The funeral will take place in London and details will be shared here shortly. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. May he rest in power and peace.
