Matthew (Mattie) Forde, Clondra, Longford / Kiltimagh, Mayo

The death occurred peacefully in Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar with his family by his side on Sunday, February 23, 2025 of Matthew (Mattie) Forde, Clondra, Co Longford and formerly of Bohaunes, Kiltimagh, Co Mayo and New York. Predeceased by his parents Matthew and Nora and by his brother Peter. Mattie will be lovingly missed by his family; his wife Mary, sons Matt (Dublin), Kevin and Brian (New York), daughters Monica (Ennis) and Teresa (Galway), brothers Michael, John, Pius, sisters Mary, Aine, Eithne and Bernie, daughters-in-law Therese and Joni, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Justin, Dubheasa, Brianna, Olivia, Michael, Jessica, Matthew, Lexi and Jadi, great-grandchildren Rían, Layla and Seán, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace. 

Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road Longford (N39 EC81) on Friday evening, February 28 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday afternoon, March 1 at 2pm in St Brendan's Church, Cloondara, Co Longford. Mattie's cremation will take place on Sunday afternoon, March 2 at 2pm in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan (H12 RF78). Family flowers only please, donations, if desired to St. Josephs Care Centre Longford c/o Glennon Funeral Directors or any family member.

Declan Dockery, Rockingham Green, Leixlip, Kildare / Edgeworthstown, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at St Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 23, 2025 of Declan Dockery, Rockingham Green, Leixlip, Co Kildare and late of Edgeworthstown, Co Longford. 

Deeply regretted by his darling wife Maeve, children Aoife, Orla and Conor, sons-in-law Karl and Steve, grandchildren Sia, Daphne and Aya, brothers Aidan and Kevin, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his residence (W23 R9P7) on Tuesday, February 25 from 4-8pm, with prayers at 7pm. Removal on Wednesday, February 26 from his residence at 12.30pm to arrive at the Church of Our Lady's Nativity, Leixlip for 1pm Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Confey Cemetery.

    Ita O'Dowd (née McGee), Lucan, Dublin / Aughnacliffe, Co Longford

    The death occurred peacefully in her 91st year with her family by her side in the kind care of the staff of The Fern Dean Nursing Home, Blackrock on Saturday, February 22, 2025 of Ita O’Dowd (née McGee), Ardeevin, Lucan, Dublin and formerly of Aughnacliffe, Co Longford

    Beloved wife of the late Michael. Forever missed by her daughters Alice, Úna and Catherine, son-in-law Andy and adored grandsons Harry, Alfie and Rory. Also regretted by her sister Evangeline Cummins, her sisters-in-law Helena, Marian and Marie, brothers-in-law Joe and Harry, nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, the extended McGee and O’Dowd families, neighbours, former work colleagues and her large circle of friends. Predeceased by her siblings Fr Phil, Sr Kathleen, Alice, Paid and Eugene. 

    Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Lucan on Thursday evening, February 27 between 4.30pm and 7pm.     Frances Mary Courtney (née Durnin), Kilnashee, Drumlish, Longford / Kinsealy, Dublin

    The death occurred, peacefully at her residence in the loving care of her familyon Saturday, February 22, 2025 of Frances Mary Courtney (née Durnin), Kilnashee, Drumlish, Longford and formerly of The Baskin Lane, Kinsealy, Co Dublin and Wolverhampton, England. Predeceased by her parents Edward (Ted) and Ellen (Nellie), brothers Eddie, Larry, Patsy, Paschal and Bernard, sisters Rose and Marie.

    Deeply missed by her husband James, daughters Catherine and Marian (Thomas), sons Brian and Paul, son-in-law Glyn, daughter-in-law Amanda, grandchildren Clare, Michael, Ellen, Megan, Liam, James and Molly Rose, great-grandchildren Luke, Georgina, Savannah, Alayna, Chren and CJ, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May Frances Rest in Peace.

    Reposing at her home on Tuesday, February 25 from 4pm until 6pm for close family, friends and neighbours followed by removal to St Mary's Church, Drumlish for 7pm. Funeral mass on Wednesday, February 26 at 12 noon followed by burial in the local cemetery.     Mary Kennedy Fennell, 'Mountashborough', Ballycloughan, Carrickboy, Longford

    The death occurred, suddenly but peacefully at her homeon Saturday, February 22, 2025 of Mary Kennedy Fennell, 'Mountashborough', Ballycloughan, Carrickboy, Longford. Predeceased by her parents Dan and Mollie Kennedy (Celbridge). Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, her beloved husband Michael, adored son Stuart and his partner Monta, greatly loved grandson Mason, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends. May she rest in peace.

    Reposing at her home in Ballycloughan (N39 YN84) on Wednesday, February 26 from 3pm until 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, February 27 in St Brigid’s Church, Ardagh at 11am, afterwards Mary will be interred in Rooske cemetery, Dunboyne alongside her grandparents.     Christina Clarke, Claris, Newtowncashel, Longford

    The death occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 of Christina Clarke, Cricklewood, London and formerly of Claris, Newtowncashel, Longford. Pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Kate-ann, sisters Teresa, Mary and Lily and by her brother John. Christina will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, brother Bernie, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

    Michael Casey, Mountdillon, Curraghroe, Roscommon

    The death occurred suddenly at his home on Sunday, February 23, 2025 of Michael Casey, Mountdillon, Curraghroe, Roscommon. Beloved brother of Mary. Mike will be sadly missed by his sorrowing sister, brother-in-law Frank (Reynolds), niece Ciara & her partner Paul, cousins, kind neighbours and many friends. Michael is predeceased by his parents John and Annie-May. Rest In Peace.

    Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (Eircode F42 RK72) on Wednesday, February 26 from 5pm to 6.30pm, followed by removal to St Cecilia's Church, Curraghroe. Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 27 at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Cloontuskert Cemetery.

    Sr Dominica (Peggy) O'Reilly, Rathbracken, Granard, Longford / Ballymote, Sligo

    The death occurred peacefully, in her 96th year, in West Leaderville, Perth, Australia, in the loving care of St John of God's Convent Sisters and her nephew, Kevin Gallagher on Friday, February 21, 2025 of Sr Dominica (Peggy) O'Reilly, late of Rathbracken, Granard, Co Longford and formerly of St John of God Convent, Dun Bhrid, Ballymote, Sligo. 

    Predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters, most recently her Sister Joan Gallagher, Rathbracken. Peg will be sadly missed by her Brother Tommy O'Reilly (Newry), Sisters Ellen Float (UK), Liz McNerney and Bridie Myericks (USA), nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

    A Memorial Mass will be offered in Peg's memory on March 21 at 7.30pm in St Mary's Church, Granard. Peg will be laid to rest in Perth. May she rest in eternal peace.

    Tony Feely, Ard na Sí, Mohill, Leitrim

    The death occurred, unexpectedly at his residenceon Saturday, February 22, 2025 of Tony Feely, Ard na Sí, Mohill, Leitrim. Predeceased by his loving wife Agnes and daughter Nuala. Sadly missed and remembered with love by his sons Colm, Alan and John, sisters Bernadette and Cora, daughters in law, Deirdre, Orla and Claire, grandchildren Oisín, Cuan, Caelan, Cara, Jack, Robyn, Luke and Ronan, dearest friend Eilish, relatives and friends. Removal to St Patrick's Church, Mohill, on Tuesday, February 25 arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. House private on Tuesday morning please.     Michael McCusker, Aughawillen, Carrigallen, Leitrim

    The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 24, 2025 of Michael McCusker, Aughawillen, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim. 

    Predeceased by his wife Rose, children Martin and baby Francis and grandchild baby Caoilainn. Michael will be sadly missed by his loving family, daughters Maureen, Aisling (Coyle) and Bernadette, son in law Kevin, grandson Odhran, brother John, sister in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

    Reposing at Smyth's Funeral Home, High Street, Ballinamore (eircode N41TD62) on Tuesday, February 25 from 5pm until 7pm. Removal from his residence on Wednesday, February 26 arriving at Saint Mary's Church, Carrigallen for funeral Mass at 11am, burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.     Joan Tormey (née Gunning), Rathowen, Co Westmeath

    The death occurred peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 20, 2025 of Joan Tormey (nee Gunning) Rathowen, Co Westmeath. 

    Predeceased by her parents Annie and James, her brothers Patrick and James, sisters Nan and Frida. Beloved wife of John, loving mother of Sean, Anwen, Paul, Lorraine and Sandra, cherished grandmother of Glen, Abbi, Alex, Cooper, Tara, Muireann, Torin, Louise and Stass, deeply missed by her sons-in-law Lenny, Niall and Adolph, daughters-in-law Oksana and Nikki, lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Rest in Peace.

    Reposing at St. Mary's Church, Rathowen (N91 N406) on Tuesday, February 25 from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 26 at 11am in St Mary's Church, Rathowen. Burial afterwards in Russagh Cemetery. House strictly private please.

    Thomas Jude Logan, Deriniver, Ballinamore, Leitrim

    The death occurred peacefully, at North West Hospice, Sligo on Saturday, February 22, 2025 of Thomas Jude Logan, Arus Carolan Nursing Home, Mohill, Co Leitrim and formerly of Derriniver, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.

    Predeceased by his brothers Sean, Peter, Pat Joe, Brendan, Kevin, James and Noel. Deeply regretted by his sisters Kathleen and Margaret, nieces, nephews, relatives, the caring staff and his many friends at Arus Carolan. Rest in Peace.

    Removal on Tuesday, February 25 (via his homeplace in Derriniver) arriving to St Brigid’s Church, Corraleehan at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 26 at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed HERE.

    Elizabeth O'Sullivan (née McBride), Knockrour West, Scartaglen, Kerry / Rooskey, Roscommon

    The death occurred peacefully at University Hospital Kerry, after a short illness, with her family by her side on Sunday, February 23, 2025 of Elizabeth O'Sullivan (nee McBride), Knockrour West, Scartaglen Co Kerry and formerly of Rooskey, Co Roscommon. 

    Predeceased by her parents Michael and Kathleen and her sisters Teresa and Marion. Sadly missed by her loving husband John, her four sons Joe, John, Denis and Donald, daughters-in-law Katie and Shannon, her adored six grandchildren Ciarán, Michelle, Aoife, Seán, Liam and Ellie, her brother Michael John, sisters Bridget and Una , brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.     Reposing at Tangney's Funeral Home Church Street Castleisland on Wednesday evening, February 26 from 5pm to 7pm. Removal from her residence on Thursday morning, February 27 at 11.30am arriving at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes Scartaglen for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Scartaglen Cemetery.  The Mass will be livestreamed HERE.
