As part of an intelligence-led operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Cavan Drugs Unit and the Revenue Customs Service, drugs valued at €281,000 were seized following busts at two different locations.

6.25kg of herbal cannabis was seized on Friday, March 6 in Co Cavan. The seized drugs, with an estimated street value of €125,000, will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

While during the search of a second property, Gardaí discovered 7.8 kilograms of suspected cannabis with an estimated value of €156,000.

A man (aged in his 30s), was arrested and is being detained in a station in the Garda North Western Region under the provisions of Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
