A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a young male after he failed to turn up for a scheduled appearance at a recent sitting of Longford District Court.

The teen was charged with having brandished a 2ft long iron poker during an altercation with another individual in Longford Post Office on August 8, 2025.

The now 18-year-old also stands accused of having committed an affray with the same individual in Longford Post Office in which they “used or threatened to use unlawful violence towards each other”.

Upon issuing the bench warrant for the defendant’s arrest, Judge Bernadette Owens remanded him on continuing bail until April 21.
