The death occurred peacefully after a short illness, in the wonderful care of the staff of Mullingar Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 4, 2025 of Nuala Rahill, Castle Forbes, Newtownforbes, Longford.

Nuala will be deeply mourned, her spirit, gentleness and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew her, Mary her life long friend, Lady Georgina, friends and work colleagues at Castle Forbes, Sisters of Mercy, cousins, friends and neighbours. A silent thought, a quiet prayer;For a special person in God’s care. Nuala may your gentle spirit have eternal peace.

Reposing in Connell’s Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford N39 KN66 on Monday, January 6 from 3.30pm with prayers at 4.45pm, followed by removal to St Mary’s Church, Newtownforbes for prayers at 6pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, January 7 at 12 noon. Following Mass, Nuala will be laid to rest in the local cemetery. Please Note: No hand shaking.

Catherine Hamill (née Creegan), Palace Fields, Tuam, Galway / Longford / Dublin

The death occurred suddenly at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025 of Catherine Hamill (nee Creegan) Palace Fields, Tuam, Co Galway and late of New York, Dublin and Longford. 

Predeceased by her father Seamus Creegan. Sadly missed by her loving husband Tony, daughters Gráinne and Deirdre, her mother Nuala, sisters Fionnuala and Suranne, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Catherine will be reposing at Grogan’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Tuam (H54 Y677) on Monday evening, January 6 from 6pm. Removal at 7pm to the Cathedral of the Assumption. The death occurred suddenly at his home surrounded by his heartbroken family on Friday, January 3, 2025 of Pat McNally, Clontumpher, Ballinalee, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents James and Mary-Rose and his brother Sean. Reposed in Connell's Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford on Sunday, January 5 from 2pm concluding with prayers at 4pm. Removal from his home on Monday January 6 to arrive to St Mary's Church, Ennybegs for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Pat will be laid to rest in St Emer's Cemetery, Ballinalee. Terence Reynolds, Yonkers, NY and formerly of Cloncowley, Drumlish, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at his home in Yonkers, NY, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 of Terence Reynolds, Yonkers, NY and formerly of Cloncowley, Drumlish, Longford. July 5, 1947 – December 31, 2024. Born on July 5, 1947, in Cloncowley, Drumlish, Co. Longford, Ireland, Terence lived a life full of love, dedication, and generosity. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Terence came to NY in 1968 and joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local Union 608, where he served as a lifetime member. He was a devout pioneer and a great advocate of total abstinence having faithfully served as president of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart (Bronx). Terence is pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Martha and brother Michael. He is survived by his devoted wife, Josephine, his cherished daughters, Martha and Christina, and his adored grandchildren, Johnny, Patrick, Athena, and Amaryllis, and his beloved dog Gus. Also sadly missed by his sons-in-law, Robert and Philip, as well as extended family, friends, and neighbors who held him dear.

A viewing was held at Flower Funeral Home in Yonkers, Friday, January 3, 2025 (4-8pm) followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 4, 2025 (11am) at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Yonkers. Followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Glioblastoma Foundation in Terence’s memory. The death occurred peacefully in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford on Friday, January 3, 2025 of Thomas Cummins, Carrickedmond, Co Longford. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by brother James Cummins and his wife Lilian (Waterford) and sister Bernadette Regan (Carrick on Shannon), nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. Reposed in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford (N39 XE92) on Sunday afternoon, January 5 from 3pm until 5pm followed by removal to Carrickedmond Sacred Heart Church to arrive at 6pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 6 at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Robert (Roy) Payne, Torboy House, Moydow, Longford, N39 NW61 / Galway / Roscommon

The death has occurred peacefully in care of Regional Hospital, Mullingar surrounded by his family, aged 85 years of Robert (Roy) Payne, Torboy House, Moydow, Co. Longford and late of Ballymoe.  Beloved husband of Alice and much loved father of John, Robert, Ellen and Miriam. Predeceased by his sister Betty Edgill. Sadly missed by his brother Jimmy and his sisters Dora, Jane and Anne, daughter-in-law Jasmin, Son-in-law Alasdair, and Ling. Greatly loved by his grandchildren Alexander, Evalina, Arrabella and Beth. Also sadly missed by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

The death occurred peacefully in Kent, England on Friday, December 6, 2024 of James (John) Gilmore, Birchington (Kent), UK and formerly Lanesboro, Longford / Glaslough, Monaghan. 

He is predeceased by his partner Robin, parents John and Kathleen, his brother Enda (Andy), his sister Anne and his niece Laura. James will be forever remembered with love by his family ; brothers Brendan, Tony, Nicholas, Damian and Cosmas, sisters, Teresa, Colette, Lorraine and Caroline, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, dear friends and neighbours.

Mary (Catherine) Bonner (née Hatfield), 4 Overburn Crescent, Dumbarton, Scotland / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Scotland on Sunday, November 10, 2024 of Mary (Catherine) Bonner (nee Hatfield), 4 Overburn Crescent, Dumbarton, Scotland / Longford.

She will be sadly missed by her brother Brian, sister-in-law Madge, nephew Ian, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.

Mary McInerney (née McIntyre), Shannow Wood, Ballinagh, Cavan / Gowna, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 5, 2025 of Mary McInerney (nee McIntyre) Shannow Wood, Cavan and formerly Cornamuckla, Gowna, Co Cavan.  

Predeceased by her loving husbands Seamus Maguire and Philip McInerney, parents Joseph and Bridget, brothers Paddy, Larry, Joe, Seamus and sister Kathleen. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her adored children Shane (Jenny), Philomena (Charlie) and Joe (Louise), grandchildren Amy, Saibh, Rian, Philip, Katie, Alfie and her beloved and adored great granddaughter Freya. Sadly missed by her brother Eamon McIntyre (Granard), sisters Breedge Gettings (Granard) and Margaret Fitzgerald (Dublin) and all of her much loved nieces, nephews, brothers in law, sisters in law, extended family and close friends.

Reposing at Finnegans Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7 from 7.30pm with prayers at 9pm. Mary has chosen to donate her body to medical science. As such, there will be no funeral mass. Instead, a mass to celebrate her life will be organised in the coming days. Maura O'Keefe (née Mulligan), Dunbeggan, Aughnacliffe, Longford

The death occurred after a short illness and surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 24, 2024 of Maura O'Keefe (née Mulligan), Sutton, Surrey, England and formerly Dunbeggan, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Predeceased by her father Paddy, niece Leah, baby Niall and baby Donna. Maura will be forever missed by her husband Michael, daughters Geraldine (Paul), Nicola (Dean), son Gavin and her adoring grandchildren Billy, Jake, Holly, Amy, Ava, Maisey, her mother Maisie, sisters Margaret, Annarose, Martina, Lisa and Celia, brothers Padraig, Seamie, Francie and Barry, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and large circle of friends. Funeral Mass on January 15 in the Holy Family Church, Sutton Green, Sutton followed by cremation at North East Surrey Crematorium. There will be a Mass in St Colmcille Church to celebrate Maura's life at a later date.

The death  occurred unexpectedly at Portiuncla Hospital, Ballinasloe on Friday, January 3, 2025 of John Joe Kearns, Clooncagh, Strokestown, Roscommon. Loving husband of Elizabeth and much loved father of Alan, Yvonne, Gina, Lynne, Shane and Edel. John Joe will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife and family, sons-in-law Oliver, Brian and Rob, daughters-in-law Mylyn and Jen, grandchildren Anna, Robbie, Miranda, Conor, Maeve, Gabriel, Cian, Oisín and Roisín, great-granddaughter Amelia, brother Seamus (Navan), sisters Thecla Sforza (New York), Teresa (Carniska), Dolores Banahan (Derrane), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends. John Joe is predeceased by his parents James and Eileen, sisters Patricia, Sr. Eileen, Helen, Margaret and more recently by his brother Padraig.

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of all the staff at Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, Rooskey on Sunday, January 5, 2025 of Tony Flaherty, Upper Elphin Street, Strokestown, Roscommon.

Beloved husband of Mae and loving father of Anthony and Shane. Tony will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife and sons, nephews, niece, cousins especially Patty, sisters-in-law Anne Walsh and Sr Phyllis (Marist Order), neighbours, relatives and many friends. Tony is predeceased by his parents John Joe and Katie, sisters Myra and Dell, brothers Sean and Martin. Rest In Peace.

Brigid Kellegher (née Burns), Mullingar, Westmeath / Cavan / Bornacoola, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and under the exceptional care of the staff of Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar on Sunday, January 5, 2025 of Brigid Kellegher (nee Burns) Mullingar and formerly of Rooskynamona, Bornacoola Co Leitrim and Cavan Town.

Brigid was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) (Cloonart, Longford) and predeceased by her sister Sr. Eileen and brothers Loughlin and Terry. Deeply missed by her children Marie (Walsh, Killarney), Eithne, John, Tina, Colum, and Dominick, sons-in-law Dermott and Gordon, daughters-in-law Marian, Oonagh, and Aoife. Brigid was a cherished grandmother to Elena, Jake, Anna, Lily, Michael, Irene, Isobel and Brian, and a great-grandmother to Braxton. She also leaves behind her sister Annette, sisters-in-law Geraldine and Stella, brother-in-law John as well as a large circle of extended family, neighbours, and friends who will mourn her loss. May Brigid rest in peace.

Reposing at her home (College Hill, Mullingar) on Tuesday, January 7 from 3pm until 8pm. Brigid’s Funeral Cortège will leave her home on Wednesday morning, January 8 to the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar for Requiem Mass at 1pm.

The death occurred peacefully at his home in the loving care of his family on Sunday, December 15, 2024 of Felix Harten, Birmingham, England and formerly Carnagh Upper, Kilcogy, Co Cavan. Predeceased by his parents Felix and Rose his beloved son Colin sisters Kathleen and Eithne and brother Benny.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Elizabeth sons Phelim (Linda) Thomas (Nicola) Dermot (Franchesca) daughter Mary (Andrew) grandchildren Freddy, Felix and Lizabella, brothers Paddy (Carnagh), James (Navan), sisters and brothers in law, nephews, nieces relatives and a large circle of friends. May he rest in peace.
