The death occurred peacefully after a long and happy life on Monday, December 30, 2024 of Dympna Donlon (nee Fitzgerald), ‘Struthan’, Ardnacassa Lawns, Longford town. 

Pre-deceased by beloved husband Tony (Dynamite) and by her dear daughter Úna McNicholl. Dympna is deeply mourned and will be greatly missed by her children, Terri Jackson (Hong Kong), John (Longford), Geraldine Mulvey (Longford), Dympna Condra (Nobber) and Renie Ward (Athlone), Dympna will be forever remembered by her loving grandchildren Lauren, Robert, Daniel, Sorcha, Aislinn, Cian, Eimear, Dara, Ciara, Conor and Ava, sons-in-law Michael, James, Michael, Colin and Niall, sister-in-law Gretta, brother-in-law Loman, nieces, nephews, neighbours and wonderful friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Wednesday, January 1 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, January 2 at 11am in St Mel’s Cathedral, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please view here

Agnes Fleming (née Kiernan), Hazelwood Grove, Taylors Hill, Galway City, Galway / Claregalway, Galway / Granard, Longford

The death occurred suddenly at University Hospital Galway on the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2024 of Agnes Fleming (née Kiernan), Hazelwood Grove, Taylors Hill, Galway City, Galway and formerly of Claregalway, Galway, New York and Granard, Longford. Predeceased by her son Jim, her sister Ita Raleigh, brothers Bertie, John and Noel Kiernan, as well as the father of her seven children Martin Fleming.

Agnes will be missed by her heartbroken children Martin, Mark, Elizabeth, Sharon, Raymond and Michelle, her daughters-in-law Sarah, Lynae and Emilie, her sons-in-law Jon-Ander, Dave and Stefan and her grand-children Anna, Luke, Zoe, Luca, Maeve, Marco, Daniel, Max, Saoirse and Aoife as well as her nieces, nephews, wider family and close friends. May her gentle spirit Rest in Peace.  

A private celebration of life and a cremation service will take place. Family flowers only please.

 

Paddy Kelly, Bracklin Road, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford

The death  occurred peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital on Monday, December 30, 2024 of Paddy Kelly, Bracklin Road, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Bobby and Elizabeth Kelly, brothers Benny, Sean, and Kevin, sisters Josephine, Mary, Pauline and Elizabeth. Paddy will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, sons Liam, Shane, Ciaran and Darragh, daughters Leanne, Tara and Elaine, brother Seamus, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, friends and neighbours. Peggy Conefrey (née Cosgrove), Corglass, Moyne, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 29, 2024 of Peggy Conefrey (nee Cosgrove) Corglass, Moyne, Co Longford. Predeceased by her husband Tommy, parents Peggy and Thomas, sister Kathleen Saladin, who recently passed away in the USA, brothers-in-law Jimmy Kiernan and Harold Saladin. She will be sadly missed by her son Sean, his partner Geraldine, brother Peter, sister Bridie Kiernan, nieces, nephews, cousins, god-daughter Breege Grimes, relatives, neighbours and good friends. Reposing at Kelly's Funeral Home, Athlone Road, Longford (N39 K381) on Tuesday, December 31 from 4.30pm until 6.30pm with removal that evening to Saint Mary’s Church, Legga, arriving for prayers at 7.30pm. Mass of the resurrection on Wednesday, January 1 at 11am followed by burial in Tubberpatrick cemetery.

The death occurred after a short illness and surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 24, 2024 of Maura O'Keefe (née Mulligan), Sutton, Surrey, England and formerly Dunbeggan, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Predeceased by her father Paddy, niece Leah, baby Niall and baby Donna. Maura will be forever missed by her husband Michael, daughters Geraldine (Paul), Nicola (Dean), son Gavin and her adoring grandchildren Billy, Jake, Holly, Amy, Ava, Maisey, her mother Maisie, sisters Margaret, Annarose, Martina, Lisa and Celia, brothers Padraig, Seamie, Francie and Barry, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and large circle of friends. Bridie Smyth (née Smyth), Tonagh, Mountnugent, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, in her 99th year, surrounded by her loving family and wonderful staff at The Sheelin Nursing Home on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 of Bridie Smyth (née Smyth), Tonagh, Mountnugent, Co Cavan. 

Predeceased by her husband Andy, sons Tommy and Paddy and son-in-law Jack. Sadly missed by her son Seamus (Sue) daughters; Monica (Bobby) Kathleen (Michael) and Breda, daughters-in-law Josephine and Paula, her 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, sister in law Collette, nieces, nephews, great neighbours and many friends. Rest In Peace.

The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of Mullingar General Hospital on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 of James (Jimmy) Casey, Painstown, Ballynacargy, Westmeath. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Mary, Sr Catherine and Ann, brother-in-law Tony and sister-in-law Rita, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. Pre-deceased by his brothers Eamon, Paddy and Peter and his sister Aisling. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing at the Hospital Mortuary, Mullingar on New Years Day, January 1, 2025 from 4pm until 6pm. Removal to follow to St. Matthew's Church, Milltown to arrive at 7pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024 of Richard (Richie) Powell, Assumption Road, Athlone, Westmeath (Retired Óglaigh na hÉireann) & formerly of Glasson, Athlone, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by his brothers Edward and James. Sadly missed by his loving daughter Iszara, sons Kenneth, Gavin and Mark, his parents Christopher and Mary, brothers Chris and Michael, sisters Marie, Ellen, Ann, Patricia and Olivia, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends. The death occurred peacefully at his home in the loving care of his family on Sunday, December 15, 2024 of Felix Harten, Birmingham, England and formerly Carnagh Upper, Kilcogy, Co Cavan. Predeceased by his parents Felix and Rose his beloved son Colin sisters Kathleen and Eithne and brother Benny.
