There were chaotic scenes on Longford’s Main Street just before 1pm today as a group of people known to each other became involved in a violent brawl.
Multiple videos of the incident are currently being circulated on WhatsApp including one of what appears to be an individual attempting to run over another man with a van (View above. Please note, identities have been redacted)

A still from one of the videos of the brawl
In one of the videos, a person can be seen grabbing another by the back of the head as a man attempts to split them up, while in a separate video, an individual waves what looks to be a black baton during a confrontation with others.
The videos indicate the violence was primarily centred around a car parked on Main Street, however, it briefly spilled out into the busy road when a driver drove towards a man who, going by the footage, appeared to have been gesturing and shouting at him moments earlier.
As the driver passes him, the next frame shows the man re-emerging onto the road and throwing an unidentifable item at the back of the van. Moments later, he is surrounded by people in the middle of the road and pulled to one side.
When Gardaí arrived on the scene, they arrested two women and a man, all aged in their 20s, in relation to the incident.
All three have been charged and will appear before Longford District Court tomorrow morning, Tuesday March 10.
A Garda spokesman told the Longford Leader, “As this matter is now before the courts we will not be providing further information.”
