Individuals and groups in Longford are invited to take part in the Bealtaine Festival, Ireland’s national festival in May which celebrates the arts and ageing, and the central feature of which is the Dawn Chorus.
The Dawn Chorus is a nationwide singing event, delivered in partnership with Sing Ireland, in which older people and singing groups come together to sing in their locality. The singing events take place close to dawn or at dusk and are held with a view to celebrating the day and welcome in the season.
Anyone can organise or get involved in Dawn Chorus including older people’s groups, singing groups, and community groups.

Dawn Chorus events encourage participation from those present, rather than the organisation of a professional music event. The events can take place outdoors in a scenic location and participants are invited to consider the festival theme ‘Lust for Life’ when making their song choices.
Longford individuals and groups can register their dawn or dusk chorus event on the Bealtaine Festival website, bealtaine.ie.
For queries regarding the online registration process for Dawn Chorus, please email arts@ageandopportunity.ie
Bealtaine Festival is an initiative by Age & Opportunity, funded by The Arts Council and the HSE. The nationwide and flagship Dawn Chorus events are presented in partnership with Sing Ireland
