Maura Hegarty (née Culhane), Hyde Court, Roscommon Town, Roscommon / Clondra, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the wonderful care of the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital on Monday, September 9, 2024 of Maura Hegarty (née Culhane) Hyde Court, Roscommon town and formerly of Clondra, Co Longford. 

Much loved mother to Diarmuid and Niall and cherished grandmother to Hannah, Drew and Ava. Maura will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, her brother Richard, sisters Bríd (Culhane), Áine (McCormack), Pauline (Naughton) and Déirdre (Ní Cathaláin), daughters-in-law Sharon and Catríona, extended family, relatives, neighbours and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Bridie and Dick Culhane, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. May She Rest in Peace.

Maura will repose at her home on Wednesday, September 11 for family and close friends only from 4pm until 8pm. Removal from her home on Thursday morning, September 12 (house private at this time please) to St Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford (N39 K603) for Mass of the Resurrection at 1pm, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Hegarty and Culhane family would like to express their thanks to all those who took care of Maura during her illness, especially the doctors, nurses and staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Portiuncula University Hospital and Roscommon University Hospital. They would also like to acknowledge her neighbours and friends for their kindness and prayers at this time. Family flowers only please. Packie Joe (Packie) Rudden Aughnacliffe, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Our Lady's Manor, Edgeworthstown on Monday, September 9, 2024 of Packie Joe (Packie) Rudden, Forstra, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. Predeceased by his sister Cissie and brother John. Sadly missed by his wife Maggie Ellen, family Mary, Margaret, Lil, Sinead and Patrick, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons in law, daughter in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and the residents and staff of OurLady's Manor Edgeworthstown. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Our Lady's Manor, Edgeworthstown on Tuesday evening, September 10 from 7.15pm concluding with prayers at 9pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday morning September 11 at 11am in St. Colmcille's Church, Aughnacliffe, with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Agnes Keenan (née Kerrigan), Great Water Street, Longford Town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Thomond Lodge Nursing Home on Sunday, September 8, 2024 of Agnes Keenan (nee Kerrigan), Great Water Street, Longford town. 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael. Agnes will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family , sons John and Michael, daughters Josephine, Bridie, Lily, Rita, Eileen and Bernadette, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Tuesday, September 10 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday, September 11 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if desired to The Longford Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland , c/o Glennon Funeral Directors or any family member.

Kathleen Newman, Drumnacrehir, Dring, Longford / Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully at her residence on Sunday, September 8 of Kathleen Newman, Tara Court, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and formerly of Drumnacrehir, Dring, Co Longford. Predeceased by her parents Andrew and Margaret, brother Bartley and sisters Marie and Margaret. Deeply regretted by her brother Andrew, sister in law Vera, brother in law Pat, nephews Brian and Andrew, nieces Margaret and Veronica, cousins, neighbours and a large circle of friends. May Kathleen Rest in Peace.

Reposing in the Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown on Tuesday, September 10 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, September 11 at 12 noon with burial immediately afterwards in the local cemetery. Joan Kelly (née Gallagher), Heatherdale, Monaleen, Limerick / Ballymahon, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully at home on Monday, September 9, 2024 of Joan Kelly (née Gallagher) Heatherdale, Monaleen, Limerick and formerly of Ballymahon, Co Longford. Beloved wife of the late Jim Kelly. Dearly loved mother of Marie. She will be very sadly missed by her loving daughter Marie, mother Anna, extended family and friends. May she Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street on Thursday, September 12 from 5pm to 6pm. A Funeral Service for Joan will be held at Shannon Crematorium on Friday, September 13 at 1pm. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Milford Care Centre.

Sr Ellen Mary Conefrey, Paramount, Los Angeles, California and formerly Corglass, Moyne, Longford / Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the Daughters of Mary & Joseph Community on Tuesday, September 3 of Sr Ellen Mary Conefrey, Paramount, Los Angeles, California and formerly Corglass, Moyne, Longford / Leitrim. 

Predeceased by her loving parents John Joe and Bridget, her brothers Seamus (NY), Tommy (Corglass), Sean and Charlie (SF), her sister’s Anna Mae Williams (Rossan) and Lizzy Morris (Legga), and her nephew Tommy Williams. Very sadly missed by her sisters in law Sally Conefrey (SF) and Peggy Conefrey (Corglass), her adored 18 nephews and nieces, her grand nephews and grand nieces, her good friends Sr Anna May O’Reilly, Sr Peggy, Sr Mary and Sr Teresa in Paramount, the daughters of Mary and Joseph Community, cousins, relatives and friends. May her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace. 

Sr Ellen's funeral will take place on Monday, September 16 in Culver City, Los Angeles at 11am.

Patrick Joseph McNabola, Boeshill, Mohill, Co Leitrim, N41WY19

The death occurred peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family in his 97th year following a life well-lived on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 of Patrick Joseph (PJ) McNabola, Boeshill, Mohill, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by his wife Evie, his parents Patrick and Bridget, his brothers and sister, Christopher, Gregory and Eileen and his grandson Mikey. Deeply missed by his children, Ann, Evie, Nick, Deirdre, Mairéad and Tony, brother Francie, sons-in-law Seamus Coggins, Gerry Mulkerrins, John Costello, John de Jong and daughters-in-law Gráinne (Heeran) and Sharon (McWeeney), grandchildren Mark, Aisling, Ella, Olivia, Kyle, Josh, Kayleigh, Max, Ríona, Niamh, Zoё, Náithí, Ava, Sophie and Anthony, god-daughter Bridie Gaughan, sister-in-law Bridie McLoughlin and extended family and friends. May PJ’s kind and gentle soul Rest in Peace

Reposing at his residence at Boeshill, Mohill, Co Leitrim N41 WY19 on Wednesday, September 11 between 4pm and 8pm and Thursday afternoon, September 12 between 2pm and 6pm. The death occurred suddenly, but peacefully, at her home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 of Josephine (Josie) Murphy (née Doran), The Square, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath. Predeceased by her beloved husband Seán, her brothers Jackie, Fr Liam, Paddy and Tommy, her sisters Mamie and Trish. Josie will be forever loved and dearly missed by her children Mamie, John, Dympna and Colm; sons-in-law Jim and Kevin, daughters-in-law Mary and Olive; her adored 11 grandchildren Kenneth, Nadine, Ian, Brian, Aidan, Aisling, Aoife, Áine, Emer, Seán and Cara; her five great-grandchildren Dylan, Aoibhínn, Frank, Ríona Rose and Jack; her sisters Sr Dympna, Sr Miriam, Celie and Kathleen; her brothers Christy, Gerry and Jimmy; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, good neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 6, 2024 of Muriel Franzoni (nee Gardner), Killare, Balinea, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. Muriel will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving husband Paul, sons Steven and Ian, her grandchildren Ethan, Dylan, Rihanna, Nika, Finn and Nevaeh, sister Elizabeth, brothers Peter and Andrew, daughters in law Elisha and Clare, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces extended family, neighbours and good friends.

Reposing at Kelly's funeral home, Longford (N39 K381) on Tuesday, September 10 from 6pm to 8pm, with cremation on Wednesday, September 11 at 1.30pm at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12 RF78).

John Coffey, Ashbrook, Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully at Roscommon Hospice on Sunday, September 8, 2024 of John Coffey, Ashbrook, Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by his parents Bernard & Mary, his sister Mary & his brother Francis. John will be sadly missed by his sorrowing brother Brian, sister Bríd, sister-in-law Mary, nephew Damien and his wife Laura, grandnephew Brendan, grandniece Fiona, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest In Peace.

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown, on Tuesday, September 10 from 5.30pm until 7pm, followed by removal to St Anne's Church, Scramogue, to arrive at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, September 11 at 11am. Burial afterwards in Cloontuskert Cemetery.

Peter Garvey, Drumgeaglom, Leitrim Village, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at Sligo University Hospital after a short illness with his loving family by his side on Sunday, August 18, 2024 of Peter Garvey, Drumgeaglom, Leitrim Village, Co Leitrim & Coulsdon, London. Predeceased by his parents Sean and Philomena. Sadly missed by his son Barry Garvey (Baz), Sheila (She) Barry’s mother. His 11 brothers and sisters, John (Australia), Stephen (Cavan), Simon (Middlesex), Mary (Leitrim), Kevin (Croydon), Michael (Battersea), Colin (London) Philip (Clapham), Treasa (Sussex), Ann (Leitrim), Carmel (Leitrim), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and wide Circle of friends in England and Leitrim. Rest in Peace.

Removal to St Joseph's Church, Leitrim Village on Tuesday evening, September 10 arriving at 6:30pm.
