John Ryan, Connolly Crescent, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred, peacefully, on Tuesday, July 16 of John Ryan, Connolly Crescent, Longford Town, Longford. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Angela and by his grandchildren Lauren and Ryan.

John will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughters Linda Keegan (Ardagh), Jennifer Donlon (Ballymahon) and Jacinta Farrell (Kenagh), sons John (Ballyleague) and Michael (Tarmonbarry), daughters-in-law Veronica and Amanda, sons-in-law P.J., Michael and James, sisters Peggy and Nora, brother Tommy, grandchildren Sean, Conor, Katie, Alison, Sarah, Jade, Tara, Lisa, Cillian, Ava and Michaela, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace. 

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, July 21 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of The Resurrection on Monday in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please go to www.longfordparish.com

Daniel O'Leary, Clontymullan, Legan, Longford / Limerick City, Limerick

The death occurred on Tuesday, July 16 of Daniel O'Leary, Clontymullan, Legan, Co Longford and formerly of Limerick and Farnborough, Hampshire, England. Predeceased by his daughter Fiona. Daniel will be sadly missed by his loving wife Greta and son Ivan, sister Mary Hannigan, grandchildren, daughter-in-law Allah, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. During his life Daniel had a great devotion to Our Lady and St Jude. Rest in Peace. 

Reposing in Our Lady's Manor, Edgeworthstown on Friday, July 19 from 6pm with prayers at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 20 at 11am in St Mary's Church, Legan with burial afterwards in Legan Cemetery.

Bernie Beglan (née Fitzsimons), Ballynacroghy, Ballynacargy, Westmeath, N91Y627

The death occurred on Thursday, July 18 of Bernie Beglan (née Fitzsimons), Ballynacroghy, Ballynacargy, Westmeath. It is with broken hearts the Beglan Family announces the passing of their beautiful wife and mother, Bernie who passed away peacefully after a short illness borne with extreme bravery, courage and dignity, surrounded by her loving family in the tender care of the exceptional staff of the Ciúin Suite in the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar.

Darling wife and best friend of Pat, adored mother of Anita (Connell), Mark and Bronagh, adored Nana of Mia and Cara. Predeceased by her parents Sean and Nan. Bernie will be forever loved and missed by her heartbroken and loving husband, children and grandchildren, sons-in-law Michael and Micky, her beloved sisters and brothers, Helena, Michael, Marie, Shane, Anne and Olive, sisters in law, brothers in law, aunts, uncle, adored nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of life long friends.

Special thanks to the remarkable staff of St John’s Ward, in St James’s Hospital for their excellent care, support and kindness during Bernie’s brief illness and to Dr Siobhan in Mullingar Medical Centre. Reposing at her residence (N91 Y627) on Friday, July 19, from 4pm-8pm. Funeral mass in St Michael the Archangel Church, Sonna at 11am on Saturday, July 20. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. House private Saturday morning.

Anne Quinn (née Bryce), Main Street, Ballinagh, Cavan / Carrick, Donegal 

The death occurred, peacefully in the tender care of the staff at Ashbury, Nursing Home, on Tuesday, July 16 of Anne Quinn (née Bryce), cherished wife the late Pat, Ballinagh, Co Cavan and Carrick, Co Donegal. 

Loving and much loved mother of Miriam, Michael, Elizabeth, Mark, Deirdre, Grainne and Annette, adored grandmother of her 19 grandchildren and sister to Thérese (Boyle), Séan, Grainne (O'Malley) and the late Liam and Dermot and mother in law to Ottmar, Elizabeth, Austin, Olive, Diarmuid, Ritchie and Adrian, also deeply regretted by her sisters in law, brother in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. "May She Rest In Peace".

Reposing at the family home Main Street, Ballinagh, Thursday, July 18 from 5pm until 8pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, July 19 at 1pm in St Mary’s Church, Killybegs, interment afterwards in Killybegs Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to St Vincent de Paul.

Peter Egan, Ballybeg, Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred, in the loving care of all the staff at Sonas Nursing Home, Ballyleague, surrounded by his family, in his 94th year, on Wednesday, July 17 of Peter Egan, Ballybeg, Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by his parents Hubert and Bridie, and his siblings Mary, Bridgie, Eugene, Hugh, John, Nell and Dennis. Peter will be sadly missed by his sorrowing sisters, Sr. Ethna and Imelda, his many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Rest In Peace.

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home Strokestown on Thursday, July 18, from 6:30pm until 8pm, followed by removal to Carniska Church. Funeral Mass on Friday, July 19 at 11am. Burial afterwards in Lissonuffy Cemetery.

Ray Reilly, Sligo / Mohill, Leitrim

The death occurred, peacefully at Nazareth House Sligo, on Wednesday, July 17 of Ray Reilly, formerly of Mohill, Co Leitrim and Castle Court House, Cliffony and Pearse Road, Sligo. Predeceased by his wife Una Glynn. Sadly missed by family, friends and staff at Nazareth House Sligo and Sligo Mental Health Services. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Nazareth House Chapel Sligo on Thursday, July 18 from 5pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, July 19 at Nazareth House Chapel at 11am. Burial afterwards at Sligo Cemetery.

Patrick (Pat) Hughes, Castlepollard, Westmeath / Smithboro, Monaghan

The death occurred, peacefully at his home, on Tuesday, July 16 of Patrick (Pat) Hughes, Carpenterstown, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and late of Smithboro, Co Monaghan. Predeceased by his parents Michael & Roseanne, his brother Frank and his son-in-law Mick.

A greatly loved husband and father. Pat will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Anne (Nan), sons Michael, Alan, Kevin & Aidan and his daughter Laura, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours, friends and carers. May Pat Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his home, Carpenterstown, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath (N91 NHW7) on Thursday, July 18 from 4pm, concluding with prayers at 8pm. Pat's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, July 19 at 11am in St Feichin's Church, Fore, Co Westmeath (N91 X265), followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Lloyd Edwin Philpott, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of St Joseph’s Care Centre, Longford on Thursday, July 4, 2024 of Lloyd Edwin Philpott, Sussex, England/ Longford. Predeceased by his wife Patricia (Pat). Lloyd will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughter Sarah McGuire (Moydow), son Dennis (UK), sisters, brothers, daughter-in-law Kathleen, son-in-law Declan, grandchildren Kirsti, Charlotte, Liam, Abbie and Shannon, his three great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. At rest.

A private funeral will take place in England at a later date.

Rosetta Reehill (née Reilly), Clonoose, Ballyheelan, Kilnaleck, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of Fountains Care Home, Rainham, London on Monday, June 24 of Rosetta Reehill (née Reilly) Clonoose, Ballyheelan, Kilnaleck, Cavan. Former Labour Party councillor candidate in Upminster.

Predeceased by her Late husband Gerry Reehill of Longford Town, her sister Anna and brothers Hugh, Packie, Jim & Eddie. Rosetta will be sadly missed by her daughter Loretta, son-in-law John, Velvet, loving friends, family, sisters Kay and Josie, brother John, sister-in-law Kathleen, brother-in-law Andy, all her extended family, friends & neighbours.

Hannah Josephine Brennan (née O’Regan), Strokestown, Roscommon / Shanballymore, Cork

The death occurred peacefully at home, after a short illness, on Friday, June 21 of Hannah Josephine Brennan, (nee O’Regan) of Hornchurch, Essex, England. (Formerly of Carrigleagh, Shanballymore, County Cork). Predeceased by her parents James and Ellen, her husband Patrick (Carrowclogher, Strokestown), daughter Annette, and sister Brid. A dear mother to Helen and Martin. A loving sister of Margaret, Eileen, and Mary. Sadly, missed and lovingly remembered by her family. Grandchildren; Ryan, Erin, Megan, Niamh, Edward, Isobel, and Martha, and her great grandchildren; Henry, George, William, Charles, and Jacob, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, and friends. May She Rest in Peace. 

The funeral will take place in Hornchurch, Essex. Requiem mass at St Mary Mother of God Church, on Friday, July 26, at 11am followed by burial at Upminster Cemetery, Ockendon Road, Upminster, Essex. The family would like to request in lieu of flowers, that donations can be made to either St Francis Hospice or Marie Curie.
