The death occurred peacefully in his 91st year in the care of Thomond Lodge nursing home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 20, 2024 of Michael Kelly, Drynan, Ballymahon, Co Longford, N39 V521 and formerly Greenhall, Cashel. Beloved husband of Carmel. Predeceased by his sisters Mae and Úna and brother Dan, parents Elizabeth and Michael. Dear father of Aidan, Áine, Phelim, Ultan and Fergal. Sadly missed by his loving sons, daughter, daughters-in-law; Helena, Christina, Linda, Ciara, grandchildren; Oisín, Niamh, Siobhán, Izette, Ciara, Oscar, Ross and Ronan, great-grandchild Fia, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at his home (N39 V521) on Tuesday, January 23 from 4pm until 8pm. Removal from his home on Wednesday morning, January 24 at 11.45am to St Matthew’s Church, Ballymahon, to arrive for 12 noon Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in Shrule Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to St Patrick’s Missionaries Kiltegan. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Mary Nolan-Daly (née Leneghan) Lislum, Ballymahon, Co Longford


The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of the staff in Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon, in her 94th year on Saturday, January 20, 2024 of Mary Nolan-Daly (nee Leneghan) Lislum, Ballymahon, Co Longford. Predeceased by Andy and Tim. Deeply regretted by her loving family, her sisters-in-law, her nieces and nephews, her step children, relatives, friends and neighbours. Rest in Peace.
Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 23 in St Dominic's Church, Kenagh (N39 T389), at 11am, followed by burial in Abbeyderg Cemetery.

Philomena (Mena) Macken (née Kiernan) Robinstown, Granard, Co Longford


The death occurred peacefully at St. Joseph's Care Centre, Longford on Saturday, January 20, 2024 of Philomena (Mena) Macken (nee Kiernan) Robinstown, Granard, Co Longford, native of Killina. Predeceased by her husband Tommy, daughter Elizabeth, parents Charlie and Elizabeth, brothers John Joe, Patrick and infant brother Charlie, sister Mary, niece Maura. Mena will be sadly missed by loving family, Breige (Edgeworthstown), Patsy (Kilmore, Clondra), Mary Jo (Dernacross), Vera (Abbeylara), Angela (Gortletteragh), Thomas (Granard), sisters Anne and Kathleen, brother Kevin, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, her adored 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. May She Rest in Peace.
Reposing at Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown, Tuesday, January 23 from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Granard, on Wednesday, January 24 at 1pm, followed by Christian burial in Granardkill Cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully,  in the loving care of family & caring staff at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon on Saturday, January 20, 2024 of Tom Mike Farrell, Lanesboro, Co Longford, formerly Carraroe, Lanesboro. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Mary Nevin, 'Morlea House', Battery Road, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Morlea House on Friday, January 19, 2024 of Mary Nevin, 'Morlea House', Battery Road, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her parents John and Winnie. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family sisters Una, Bridgie, Julia, Christina and Tilda, brothers Hughie, Gerry, Christy, Paddy and Martin, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and by the residents and staff of Morlea House. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road on Monday, January 22 from 4.15pm followed by removal at 5.40pm to arrive at St Mel’s Cathedral for prayers at 6pm. Margaret Leonard (née Newman), Ballinakill, Broadford, Kildare / Granard, Longford


The death occurred peacefully at the Regional Hospital Mullingar on Thursday, January 18, 2024 of Margaret Leonard (née Newman), Ballinakill, Broadford, Kildare / Granard, Longford. Predeceased by her parents, her brother Bartley and sister Mary. Loving wife of Pat. Deeply regretted by her brother Andrew, sister Kathleen, brother in law Jimmy, sisters in law Vera and Anne, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May Margaret Rest in Peace.
Margaret will be reposing in Murty O'Neill and Sons Funeral home Johnstown Bridge (A83 CD39) on Sunday, January 21 from 3pm with rosary at 6.30pm and on Monday, January 22 from 4pm with rosary at 7.30pm. Removal on Tuesday morning, January 23 to St Mary's Church, Broadford for Funeral Mass at 12 Midday followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully after a long illness at St Francis Hospice, Raheny on Thursday, January 18, 2024 of Maura McGroarty (née Cahill), Glasnevin, Dublin 11, and late of Edgeworthstown, Co Longford. Beloved wife of John and loving mother of Frank, Katrina, Cathal and Shaun. Sadly missed by her loving family, brothers Pat, James and Billy, sisters Ann, Margaret, Agnes and Lupita, daughters-in-law Paulina and Pam, grandchildren Sam, Jessica, Leon, Anton, Zara, Ronan, Rory, Semyon, extended family, relatives and friends. Geoffrey (Geoff) R Smith, Kiltycreevagh, Ballinamuck, Longford


The death occurred unexpectedly in Hull, North Yorkshire on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 of Geoffrey (Geoff) R Smith, Kiltycreevagh, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford (formerly of Liverpool, England). Predeceased by his wonderful parents Marjorie and George, parents-in-law Lizzy and Fintan Morris.
Geoff will be sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Brenda, his cherished son Daniel, partner Beth and his baby grandson George, who was born on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. His beloved sisters Elaine and Janet, his brothers-in-law Alan, Mark, Willie, Colm, Sean (Morris), Sean (Browne), John and Fintan, sisters-in-law Marian, Teresa, Helen and Elizabeth. his Aunts-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephew. All his cousins, neighbours and many friends around the world.
May his Gentle Soul Rest in Peace. 
Geoffrey will be reposing on Sunday, January 21 at his residence in Ballinamuck,(N39 N443) from 4pm concluding with Rosary at 8pm. The death  occurred peacefully, in the loving care of her family and the staff of the St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan on Sunday, January 21, 2024 of Helen Carey (née Fagan), Slieveboy, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath. Deeply regretted by her adoring husband Maurice, their children Gerard, Con, Patrick, Lila, Jean, Helen Anne, Peter and Monique; their partners Sinéad, Karen, Roslyn, Johnny, Dave and Richard; her beloved grandchildren Olwen, Evan, Sam, Robyn, Archie, Robert, Roscoe, Caoímhín, Juno and Maurice; sisters Jean and Norah; brother-in-law; nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. The death occurred peacefully at College View Nursing Home, Cavan on Saturday, January 20, 2024 of James (Jimmy) Earley, Marian Row, Ballinagh, Cavan. Predeceased by his loving wife Sheila, sons Martin and Baby Brian, brother Eddie, and sister Teresa, brothers in law Art and Eamon. The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of the staff at Brabazon House Nursing Home, Sandymount on Friday, January 19, 2024 of Cecil A. Geelan,  Dublin and formerly Dromod, Co Leitrim. Beloved son of the late Henry and Phylis Annie Geelan & brother of the late Bob & Arthur. Sadly missed by his sister-in-law Doreen, his relatives & many friends.
Funeral Service on Thursday, January 25 at 10:30am in St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 and afterwards to St Paul’s Church, Newtownforbes, Co. Eileen Grannell (née McGoldrick), Forosa, Gortletteragh, Leitrim


The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 of Eileen Grannell (née McGoldrick), Forosa, Gortletteragh, Leitrim. Beloved wife of the late Danny and much loved mother of Barry, Patrick and Cormac.Sadly missed by her sister Mary, daughters-in-law Sharon, Mary and Breda and grandchildren Sian, Anthony, Daniel, Emily, James, Liam, Matthew,Thomas, Annie and Jon Jo. Predeceased by her siblings Tom and Lily.

Bernadette (Bernie) Youngs (née Cusack) London and formerly of Garrymore, Ballinagh, Co Cavan


The death occurred peacefully at Kings College Hospital, London on Thursday, January 4, 2024 of Bernadette (Bernie) Youngs (nee Cusack), London and formerly of Garrymore, Ballinagh, Co Cavan. Predeceased by her husband Martin Youngs. Much loved mother of Shane and Siobhan Youngs. Sadly missed by her granddaughter Erin Youngs, her brother Owen Cusack and sisters Kathleen Coyle, Agnes O’Connor, Rose O’Shea and Frances Foy, her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Reposing in St Mary of the Crays Church, Crayford on Wednesday, January 31 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral service at 10:30am on Thursday, February 1 followed by cremation at Eltham Crematorium at 12:30.
