Kathleen Gorman (née McIntyre), 10 O'Callaghan's Avenue, Granard, Longford


The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her heartbroken family on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 of Kathleen Gorman (née McIntyre), 10 O'Callaghan's Avenue, Granard, Longford. Predeceased by her husband Paddy, her parents Joe and Bridget, brothers Paddy, Larry, Joe and Seamus. Cherished mother of Padraig and Breda. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her loving family, her adored grandchildren Evan, Siobhán and Elaine, brother Eamon, Sisters Breedge, Mary and Margaret, son in law Enda, Padraig’s partner Fiona, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she Rest in Peace.
Reposing at Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown on Thursday, November 2 from 5pm to 7pm. Arriving at St Mary’s Church, Granard on Friday, November 3 for Funeral Mass at 11.30am followed by Cremation Service in Lakeland’s Crematorium, Cavan at 2pm. House private at all times, please.

Kevin McGuire, Cartronfinns, Colehill, Longford


The death occurred suddenly but peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2023 of Kevin McGuire, Brighton, Boston, U.S.A. and formerly of Cartronfinns, Colehill, Co Longford. Kevin will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, father James, mother Carmel (nee O’Neill), sister Angela McNamara (Granard), brother Conor (Mansfield, USA), brother-in-law Padraig, nephew Conor, niece Rachel, Enda and Mandy (USA), aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and many friends. May he rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Friday, November 3 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, November 4 in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carrickedmond at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in Carrickedmond Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff at St Joseph’s Care Centre on Sunday, October 29, 2023 of Eugene Kelly, Leitrim, Newtownforbes, Co Longford. Predeceased by his sisters Theresa and Uriel and by his brother Michael. Eugene will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughters Avril and Nadine, son Neil, grandchildren Sophie, Cara and Tess, daughter-in-law Marion, Avril’s partner Steve, Nadine’s partner Kevin, Deirdre, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, niece, nephews, relatives and friends. Catherine (Cathy) Griffin (née Kelly) Drumahurk, Butlersbridge, Cavan / Longford


The death occurred peacefully, at her home, in the loving care of her family on Monday, October 30, 2023 of Catherine (Cathy) Griffin (née Kelly) Drumahurk, Butlersbridge, Co Cavan and formerly Longford Town. Beloved wife and best friend of Seamus Griffin. Predeceased by her parents Jim and Margaret Kelly, Longford and her sister Margaret Scully, Dublin. Catherine will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by her husband, Seamus, her loving family Gerry (Bronagh), Jim (Patrina), Conor (Sara), Karl (Karen), John (Tracy) and Paul (Jenny), her adored grandchildren James, D.J., Millie, Toby, Rory, Darragh, Cara Áine and Órla, brothers and sisters Bernie (London), Maureen Morley, England, Josie Bullett, Longford, Jim Kelly, Longford, Tom Kelly, Longford, nephews, nieces all her relatives and many friends. Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan H12C821, on Wednesday evening, November 1 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday morning, November 2 at 11am. In St. Aidan’s Church Butlersbridge via Old Road, followed by Burial in St. Aidan’s Cemetery. No Flowers please, donations in Lieu would be appreciated to the Stroke Unit, Cavan General Hospital.

Mary McGrath (née Harley) Templemichael Terrace, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, surrounded by her family on Monday, October 30 of Mary McGrath (nee Harley), Templemichael Terrace, Longford town. Predeceased by her infant son Patrick and by her beloved husband Joe. Mary will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, James (Jock), Joan, Sandy and Niall, brother Patrick, son-in-law Paul (Skipper), grandchildren Nadine and Josephine, great-grandchildren Tom and Chloe, Josephine’s husband John, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The death occurred, following a short illness, in the tender care of the staff of Mullingar Hospital, on Friday, October 27, 2023 of Caroline Nugent, Camelot Cottage, Carrickduff, Granard, Co Longford and formerly of Macroom Road, Coolock, Dublin. 
Caroline, loving mother of Wayne and Jeff is very sadly missed by her family, daughters in law Orla and Sarah, brothers Ray and Niall, sisters in law Lisa and Kanchana, grandchildren Louis, Gracie, Max and Jake, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Alice McHugh (née Heavey) Cortoon and formerly Tullyveela, Corlough, Cavan


The death occurred peacefully at Lough Errill Nursing Home, Mohill on Monday, October 30, 2023 of Alice McHugh (nee Heavey) Cortoon and formerly Tullyveela, Corlough, Cavan. Predeceased by her husband Thomas, daughter Caroline & brothers Peter, Hughie, Paddy, Eugene & Seán. She will be sadly missed by her son Christopher, daughters Marion & Kathleen, son-in-law Gerry, brothers Frank, Michael & Jim Joe, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren Thomas, Shauna, Ryan, Kelly & Reece, great-grandchildren Aurora & Harper, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Removal on Wednesday evening, November 1 arriving at St Patrick's Church, Corlough, at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, November 2  at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Mass may be viewed on the Corlough-Templeport Parish facebook page.

John D Flynn, Cloghergrange, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim / Kildalkey, Meath


The death occurred suddenly at Sligo University Hospital on Saturday, October 28, 2023 of John D Flynn, Cloghergrange, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim and formerly Kildalkey, Co Meath. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Orla (née McGarry), adored children Alice, Cara and Leon, cherished son of Margaret and John, loving brother to Sinead (Lucan), Emma (Kildalkey) and Lorraine (Longford), mother-in-law Kathleen, sisters-in-law Fiona (Carlow) and Linda (Dublin), brothers-in-law Henry, Owen, Joe and Patrick (Carrick-on-Shannon), uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. The one and only John D. Flynn. Rest in Peace and we will forever look at the stars and think of you.
John will repose on Wednesday evening, November 1 from 4 pm until 7pm at The Heritage Centre, Chapel of Rest, Church Lane, Carrick-on-Shannon (N41 KP62). Removal to St Mary’s Church, Carrick-on-Shannon, on Thursday morning, November 2 arriving for Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carrick-on-Shannon.

Joe Nangle, Fortlauderdale, Florida, USA formerly Battlebridge, Leitrim Village, Co Leitrim


The death occurred suddenly at his home in Florida on Thursday, September 28, 2023 of Joe Nangle, Fortlauderdale, Florida, USA and formerly Battlebridge, Leitrim village, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by his parents Sean and Tessie, sister Mary and brother Edmond. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving sisters Teresa Looney (Drumkeelan, Drumshanbo), Stella Scollan (Dublin), Patricia Keane (Battlebridge), brothers Michael (Leitrim Village), Brendan and Ciaran (Dublin), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, Joe’s good friend Christina, relatives, neighbours and his many friends in Florida and Leitrim. May He Rest In Peace.
Arrangements have changed. Joe’s Funeral took place in Florida. Mass to celebrate Joe’s life will take place in St. Joseph’s Church, Leitrim Village on Friday, November 3  at 10am, followed by burial of ashes in Drumshanbo New Cemetery.
