Ann Dowling Hughes, Listrahee, Ballinalee, Longford


The death occurred peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff of Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by her heartbroken family on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 of Ann Dowling Hughes, Listrahee, Ballinalee, Longford.
Predeceased by her husband John, parents and brother George. Ann will be sadly missed and always remembered by her family, her beloved son Sean and his fiancée Breda, sisters Teresa Keegan (Mullingar) and Kay Grant (Letterkenny), brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnephew, relatives, neighbours and her many dear friends. Tenderly we will treasure the past, With memories that will always last. Rest in Peace Ann.
Reposing in Our Lady's Manor Chapel, Edgeworthstown, on Thursday, September 7 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Funeral cortege will leave her home on Friday, September 8 to arrive to St James Church, Clonbroney, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to, Mayo Hospice, Castlebar c/o Connell Funeral Directors or any family member. Family home private please.

Catherine Hevehan (née Costello), Clonmee, Lanesboro, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Newbrook Nursing Home, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 of Catherine Hevehan (née Costello), Clonmee, Lanesboro, Longford. Predeceased by her parents and by her beloved son T.J. Catherine will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, husband Patrick, daughter Mary, sister Celia, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, September 10 from 12 noon until 2pm, followed by removal to The Church of the Blessed Virgin to arrive at 3pm for Mass of the Resurrection, interment afterwards in Cashel cemetery. Joseph Skelly, Moatfarrell, Ballinalee, Longford
The death occurred, peacefully, in the Mullingar Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 of Joseph Skelly, Moatfarrell, Ballinalee, Longford and formerly Mullinroe, Dring and Reading, England. P
redeceased by his parents Mary and John, brothers and sister. Joseph will be forever missed by his family, son Jason, brother Bernard, sister Margaret (USA), brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Always in our thoughts, Forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace Joseph.

Sr Brigid Maguire, Lisnacreevagh, Colehill, Longford

The death occurred, peacefully, in Paramount, Los Angeles, USA, in the loving care of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph Community, on Sunday, September 3, 2023 of Sr Brigid Maguire, Lisnacreevagh, Colehill, Longford. Predeceased by her sisters Sr. Margaret and Mary Jane and her brother Michael. Sadly missed by her nephew Ciaran Kavanagh, Daughters of Mary and Joseph Community, cousins, relatives and friends. Rest in peace.
Funeral will take place in Los Angeles in due course. 

William (Willie) Nugent, Cloonfour, Rooskey, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully, in the care of the staff of Mayo Roscommon Hospice surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 7, 2023 of William (Willie) Nugent, Cloonfour, Rooskey, Co Roscommon. Deeply regretted by his brother John and John's wife Essie, nephews James (Bernie), Pio (Helen), grandniece Sarah, grandnephew Matthew, Cousins, relatives, carers, neighbours and many friends. May he rest in peace.
Reposing in Leavy's Funeral Home, Scramogue (F42 FD78), on Sunday evening September 10 from 5-7pm. Removal to Church of the Sacred Heart, Whitehall, arriving at 7:30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, September 11 at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Kilbarry cemetery.

Patrick (Pat) Scully, Cloonmorris, Bornacoola, Leitrim / Longford


The death occurred peacefully at St James Hospital, Leeds in the presence of his family on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 of Patrick (Pat) Scully Morley, Leeds, UK, formerly Cloonmorris, Bornacoola, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by his brothers John and Thomas (Sonny) and his sister Eileen (O’Reilly, Abbeylara, Longford). Deeply missed by his beloved wife Anne (nee Brett, Kilkelly, Mayo), sons Vincent, John, Adrian and Malcolm, daughters-in-law Claire, Julie and Natalie, grandchildren Heather, Amelia & Eleanor, sister Maeve (Leahy USA), his nephews, nieces, neighbours and many friends. Patrick’s Funeral Mass and Interment will take place in Morley on Wednesday, September 13.

Margaret (Maggie) Fagan (née Gallagher) Trumroe, Castlepollard, Westmeath, N91 EE33


The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends on Thursday, September 7 of Margaret (Maggie) Fagan (nee Gallagher) Trumroe, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath, N91 EE33. Predeceased by her son Eoin and her father Tom. Deeply missed by her heart broken husband Eugene. Devoted mother to Ciaran and Ciaran's girlfriend Aoife, step sons Charles and Shane, her mother Ann, brothers Eugene and Daragh, sisters Jess, Sinéad and Louise, sisters in-law Margaret, Dellie and Orla, brothers in-law Cathal, Mick, Seamus and Martin, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, extended family and a wide circle of wonderful friends. The death occurred peacefully in Cavan General Hospital on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 of Vincent Leddy, Dingins, Corlismore, Cavan. Deeply regretted by his brother James, sisters Nuala, Julia and Helen, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, brothers-in-law, extended family and many friends and good neighbours. Vincent will repose in Lakelands Funeral Home (H12 RF78) on Thursday, September 7 from 5.15pm to 6.15pm with removal to the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna (H12 FT54) for 7pm. The death occurred peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 7, 2023 of Anne Manning (nee O'Mara), Glasson, Westmeath. Sadly missed by her loving husband Gerry, son David, daughter Fiona, sister Kathleen Farrell, her adoring grandchildren Livia, Cian and Luke, daughter-in-law Julia Manning, son-in-law Patrick Grimes, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many good friends. May Anne Rest in Peace.
Reposing at her residence (Glasson, Athlone, Co Westmeath) on Friday evening, September 8 from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tubberclair, Glasson, Athlone, Co Westmeath on Saturday, September 9 at 11am followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to the MS Society of Ireland.

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in Beaumont Hospital, Aughawillan, Co Leitrim on Thursday, August 31, 2023 of Gerard O'Haire, Aughawillan, Leitrim and formerly of Kilbrook, Co Kildare.
Predeceased by his father Thomas, mother Molly and brothers Brendan, Frank and Pat. Beloved husband, father and grandfather. Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, much loved children Aimee, Lewis, Kieran and Michael and their partners, brothers, Willie, Thomas, Ray and David, sisters, Caroline and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, Lola, Shay and Casey, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends. The death occurred suddenly surrounded by her loving family at Sligo University Hospital on Monday, September 4, 2023 of Anne Gray (née McMunn), Leitrim Village, Co. Leitrim formerly Belville, Dromore West, Sligo.
Predeceased by her parents Robert and Attracta, her husband James, brothers Liam and Noel, sisters Geraldine and Phyllis. Sadly missed by her loving son Tony (Galway), daughter Susan (Dublin), daughter-in-law Lorna, grandchildren Aoife, Chloe and Tara, sisters Louise, Patsy, Bernie (Sligo) Helen (Mayo), brothers Bobby (Kilkenny) and John (Sligo), sisters-in-law Mary (Enniscrone) and Sheila (Carrick-on-Shannon), brother-in-law Malachy (Sligo), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of great friends. Anne will repose on Thursday evening, September 7 from 3.30 pm until 5.30 pm at The Heritage Centre, Chapel of Rest, Church Lane, Carrick-on-Shannon (N41 KP62) followed by removal to St. Joseph’s Church Leitrim Village arriving at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 8 at 10am followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan at 2pm. House strictly private please. No flowers by request please.

Bridget Teresa McKeon (née Daly), Aughnacliffe, Co Longford


The death occurred on Thursday, August 3, 2023 of Bridget Teresa McKeon (née Daly), Chadwell Heath, Essex, late of Forest Gate, London and Manchester and formerly of Aughnacliffe, Co Longford.
Beloved wife of Francis (Frank). Devoted mother to Francis, Anthony and Paul. She will be sadly missed by her husband, sons, sister Philomena (Fox), sister-in-law Rose Reilly, her cherished grandchildren Keeleigh, Daniel and Holly, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and her many friends in London, Manchester and Co Longford. May she rest in peace.
Removal from Smith's Funeral Home, Granard (N39AX97) on Thursday evening, September 7 to St Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford (N39K603) arriving at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, September 8 at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery. Mass can be viewed HERE
