Nancy Lawrence (née McDonnell), MacEoin Park, Farnagh, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her family in the loving care of the nurses and staff of St Joseph’s Care Centre, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 of Nancy Lawrence (née McDonnell), MacEoin Park, Farnagh, Longford Town, Longford. Pre-deceased by her parents Paddy and Anne, sister Mary , brothers Joe and Johnny and by her beloved husband Michael. Nancy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family daughters Nancy, Helen, Mary and Kathy, sons Michael, Patrick, Bill and Tom, sisters Nellie, Lizzie and Kathleen, brothers Michael, Davy, Tom, Martin and Paddens, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, May 14 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 6pm followed by removal to St Mel’s Cathedral, arriving at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, May 15 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The Mass will be streamed live please go to www.longfordparish.com

 

Evelyn Mary Stafford (née Williamson), Cherrymount, Cavan Town, Cavan / Granard, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 of Evelyn Mary Stafford (née Williamson), Cherrymount, Cavan Town, Cavan / Granard, Longford. Predeceased by her sister Dorothy (Shaw) and her brother, Thomas (Williamson).
Deeply regretted by her loving family, husband Billy, daughter Lavinia (Tilson), son Richard, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Sylvia, grandchildren Laura, Andrew, Rachel and Ben, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Forever With The Lord.
Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home and Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12 RF78) on Thursday, May 11 at 5:30pm followed by concluding prayers at 7:30pm. Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Evelyn in Cavan Parish, Church of Ireland, Cavan on Friday, May 12 at 2pm followed by burial of the Ashes in Kilmore Cathedral Graveyard immediately after the service.
At Evelyn’s request no flowers please. Donations, in lieu, if so desired, to Irish Cancer Society via the Undertaker.
House private to close friends and family from 7pm to 10pm Wednesday, May 10 and 11am to 1pm Thursday, May 11.

John (Sonny) Clarke, Derrymacar, Newtowncashel, Co Longford

The death occurred, peacefully, in his 97th year, in the loving care of the nurses and staff at Mullingar Regional Hospital, on Monday, May 8, 2023 of John (Sonny) Clarke, Derrymacar, Newtowncashel, Co Longford.
Predeceased by his parents, Bill and Anne, his sister Elizabeth (Lennon) and his brother William. Sonny will be sadly missed by his nephews, Seamus, Liam and John, nieces, Mary (Ahern), Kay (Whitney) and Eithne (Kelly), grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and close friends. May He Rest in Peace.
Sonny will repose this Wednesday evening, May 10 in Kelly's Funeral Home, Athlone Road, Longford (N39 K381) from 6pm until 8pm followed by prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday morning, May 11 at 11am in the Church of the Blessed Virgin, Newtowncashel (N39 FX29) followed by burial in Saints Island Cemetery.

Jozef Milenky, Weavers Hall, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred unexpectedly at St James's Hospital, Dublin, on Saturday, May 6, 2023 of Jozef Milenky, Weavers Hall, Longford town and formerly of Kosice, Slovakia. 
Sadly missed by his wife Magdalena and his much loved sons Ivan and Jozef, daughters-in-laws Anna and Sandra, grandchildren Anna, Ivan, Franko and Magdalena. We will all miss you so much. Sleep well. Rest in Peace.
Jozef's Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 11am in St Mel's Cathedral, Longford. Cremation afterwards at 1.30pm in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Thomas McManus, Aughakilmore, Ballinalee, Co Longford / Tourmakeady, Mayo


The death occurred, peacefully after a short illness bravely borne in the care of the Royal Marsden Hospital surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 of Thomas McManus, New Malden, Surrey and formerly of Aughakilmore, Co Longford and Tourmakeady, Co Mayo.
Predeceased by his parents John and Bridget, his twin brother, sisters Breege and Nuala and brother Sean.
Tom will be very sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family, wife Patsy (nee Gibbons – Cappaduff), daughters Susan and Michelle, sons Sean and Brendan, his adored grandchildren Alex, Amelia, Isaac and Lucia, Michelle’s partner Martin and Sean’s partner Sarah. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Rose (Surrey) and Mary (Longford), brothers in laws Kenneth, Edward, Eugene and Declan, sisters in law Josie, Noreen and Kathleen, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family, friends and former work colleagues at O’Halloran and O’Brien where he worked for many years and lastly his constant little companion rescue dog Nancy. May He Rest in Peace.

Funeral and burial will take place in Tourmakeady with the reception into St Mary’s Church on Thursday, May 11 at 6.30pm. John Philip Macken, Northampton, England (formerly Ballinalee, Co Longford)


The death occurred on Sunday, April 16, 2023 of John Philip Macken, Northampton, England  and formerly of Ballinalee, Co Longford. Born on January 23, 1936. 
Husband of the late Margaret (Peggy) and partner of Mary. Father of Bernadette, Elizabeth, Shaun and Brendan. Father in law to David, Andy and Jane. Grandad to Eleanor, Daniel, Kieran and Rebecca. Brother to Betty, Margaret and the late Mary.
John will be received into The Cathedral of Our Lady and St Thomas, Northampton at 6pm on Wednesday, May 10. Funeral Service and Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 10am followed by internment in Kingsthorpe Cemetery, Northampton. The family invite mourners to join them at the café 1850 from 9:15am before the service.

The death occurred, peacefully at North West Hospice, Sligo, after a long illness, bravely borne, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 of Peter Shortt, High Street, Ballinamore, Co Leitrim.
Predeceased by his loving mother Agnes and his son Ruairi. Peter will be sadly missed by his father Terry, his son Cathal, sisters Patricia & Mairead, brother Christopher, Cathal & Ruairi’s mother Martina, his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends. The death occurred, after an illness bravely bourne, at her home surrounded by her loving family and in the care of the North West Hospice, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 of Nevy (Evelyn) McVeigh (née Duignan), Fearglass, Mohill, Leitrim. Predeceased by her parents Nell and Michael. Beloved wife of Patsy, sadly missed by her siblings Mary (Australia), Seamus (Dromod), Phyllis (UK) and Mickey (Australia), sisters-in- law Teresa (Dromod), Kathleen (Australia) and Mai (Sligo) and brothers-in-law Tony (Australia) and Joe (UK) and nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. May Nevy's gentle soul Rest In Peace.
Remains reposing at her home in Fearglass, Mohill on Wednesday, May 10, from 5pm to 8pm. Removal on Thursday (May 11) to arrive at St Mary’s Church, Cloone for Funeral Mass at 12pm followed by burial in the local cemetery. Nevy's Funeral Mass will be live streamed on www.churchtv.ie/cloone Please strictly adhere to the shuttle buses service from the 98 Bar, Ballinamuck to McVeigh's house.
