The death occurred, peacefully at the Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford N39 XE92, on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 of Phyllis Byrne, Dring Post Office, Dring, Longford. Predeceased by her parents Conor and Mary, sisters Kay Denton, Mary Mimnagh, Nan Byrne, brothers Conor, Vincent and Joseph. Deeply regretted by her loving sister Theresa McGoldrick, her family in Leicester, England, sister in law Agnes, nephews Joseph and Conor, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at Laurel Lodge, Oratory, Longford on Thursday, April 20 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass at St Joseph's Church, Purth, on Friday, April 21 at 12 noon followed by interment in the local cemetery. House strictly private. May Phyllis Rest in Peace.
Sr Assunta (Ellen) Prunty, Wilmington, Delaware and late of Breanrisk, Drumlish, Longford
The death occurred, in her 96th year, on Sunday, April 16, 2023 of Sr Assunta (Ellen) Prunty, Wilmington, Delaware and late of Breanrisk, Drumlish, Co Longford, Professed Sister of the Sisters of St Francis of Philadelphia. Reunited now with her parents, sisters Mary O’Neill, Breege Prunty, Annie McGoey, Alice Farrell and Sr Annunciata and brothers Tommy, Fr James and Fr Patrick.
Deeply regretted by her Sisters in the Community of St. Francis of Philadelphia, her nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. May She Rest In Peace. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Angels Convent Chapel, Wilmington at 11am (4pm GMT) on Friday, April 21 followed by burial in Our Lady of Angel’s Cemetery.

The death occurred, peacefully, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 of PJ O'Reilly, Templemichael Terrace, Longford Town, Longford and formerly of Rathcronan, Granard. Predeceased by his beloved wife Chrissie, parents Michael and Rose, sisters Peggy and Rose and by her brother Mike.
PJ will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughter Michelle, son Michael, daughter-in-law Mandy, sisters Nancy Duke, Bridie Donlon and Agnes Hunt, grandchildren Danielle, Alisha, Dylan and Jemma, great-grandchild Hunter, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The death occurred, peacefully in the excellent care of the staff at the Galway Clinic, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, April 20, 2023 of Tom Corcoran, Strokestown Road, Ballyleague, Co Roscommon. Much loved husband to Mary and devoted father to Michelle, Mark and Gillian. He will be very sadly missed by his family, brothers Jack, Michael, Paddy and Gerry, sisters Marie, Bríd and Pauline, Michelle’s partner James, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at his home in Ballyleague (N39 A970) on Saturday afternoon, April 22 from 4pm until 7pm. Removal from his home on Sunday, April 23 at 12.40pm arriving to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballyleague for Mass of the Resurrection at 1pm. Burial afterwards in Cloontuskert Cemetery. The death occurred, peacefully with his family at his home in England, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 of Seán Kearney of Liverpool, England and formerly of Dublin Street, Longford. Predeceased by his parents, Rose (née McGovern) and Jack, his beloved wife, Jean, and his siblings Marie, Rosaleen, Mickey, Tony, Martin, Peter and Carmel. He will be sadly missed by his children, Rosanna, Michael and Katharina, their partners/husband, Paul, Sameena and Andrew and his three grandchildren, Darcey, Nieve and Tilly. Also, his siblings and brothers- and sisters-in-law Helen & Frank, Tesh, Vivi & Matthew, Dodo, Caith & Padraig, Sheila and Brendan and Sheila and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Seán will be buried with his beloved wife, Jean, at St Mary's churchyard, Church Road, Hale, Liverpool, L24 4AX, England. Vincent Francis (Vince) Tighe, Corrydonlan, Russagh, Rathowen, Co Westmeath
The death occurred on Sunday, February 12, 2023 of Vincent Francis (Vince) Tighe, formerly Russagh, Rathowen, Co Westmeath but lived in London all his adult life. Vince was cremated in London on March 17 and by request of Vince he asked that he be brought home to his native Ireland to be buried with his beloved mother Mary. Funeral mass Friday, April 21 at 11am in The Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford. Burial of ashes afterwards at Edgeworthstown Cemetery.
Vince will be dearly missed by his four children, Martin, Katrina, Katie and Michael and his beautiful grandchildren Demi, Liam, Lincoln, Harry, Alexia and baby Alfie, his daughter in law Becky, his family and friends.
Philomena Rooney (née McGarry), UK and formerly, Rathowen, Co Westmeath
The death occurred, peacefully at her home in Hazel Grove, Stockport, United Kingdom, on Monday, April 3, 2023 of Philomena Rooney (neé McGarry), daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret McGarry, of Rathowen, Co Westmeath.
Prior to moving to Cheshire, Phil had lived with her late husband, Dr Kevin Rooney, in Leeds, West Yorkshire. She was predeceased by her husband; her two sons, Francis and Eamon Rooney; her brothers, Eamon, Mel, Michael and Patrick McGarry and her sisters, Bernadette O’Donnell, Maureen (Sr Gertrude SJC) and Peggy (Sr Bernadette SJC) McGarry. She is survived by her two children, Clair Gadzama and Brian Rooney; her grandchildren; great grandchildren; her cousins, the reverend Sisters Maura Brid McGarry OLM and Eileen McGarry OLM, of the Convent of Mercy, Longford and her nephews and nieces in Ireland and the USA. Phil lived to 92 years of age and enjoyed a very full life. Generous to a fault, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Peter’s Church, Hazel Grove, Stockport, UK, at 12 noon on Monday, April 24, 2023. The recent death has taken place of Patrick McIntyre, at his home in Bromsgrove, England and formerly of Glebe Street, Mohill, Co Leitrim.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Toni, sons Michael, Matthew, Danny, daughter Ana, brother Michael, sister Mary (Roben), grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and a large circle of friends. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred, peacefully in the presence of her friends Joe and Ewa at the Royal Free Hospital (London), after a short illness, on Monday, April 10, 2023 of Ursula Fidelma Simpson, London, formerly of Strokestown, Co Roscommon. Predeceased by her sisters Loreto and Carmel, and by her brother, MJ. Mourned by her son, Jonathan; her niece, Orlaith; her nephew, Darragh; and by her close friends and former colleagues.
