Vera O'Sullivan (née Treacy), Main Street, Lanesboro, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, in the dedicated and attentive care of the wonderful staff at Sonas Inis Ree Nursing Home, Ballyleague, Lanesboro, on Monday, April 10, 2023 of Vera O'Sullivan (née Treacy), Main Street, Lanesboro, Longford. Beloved wife of the late Hilary and much adored mother to Brendan, Valerie, Jennifer, Catherine and the late Kathleen. She will be greatly missed by her family, daughter in law, sons in law, her 8 grandchildren, sisters, sister in law & brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. May Vera rest in peace.
Reposing at her son Brendan’s home Gurteengar, Lanesboro, Co Longford, N39 E378 on Tuesday, April 11 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 12at 2pm, in St. Mary’s Church, Lanesboro, Co Longford. Burial afterwards in Clonbonny Cemetery.House private on Wednesday morning please. Family flowers only please. Margaret Hoare (née Carty), Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully surrounded by her immediate family and grandchildren in the Regional Hospital Tullamore, on Sunday, April 9, 2023 of Margaret Hoare (nee Carty), Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford town.
Predeceased by her parents, her sister Breda and by her husband James. Margaret will be sadly missed by her family; daughters Catherine, Deirdre, Marie and Ann and by her sons Seamus and David, her 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. May she rest in peace.
Reposing at Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Tuesday, April 11 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Rooskey at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 12 interment afterwards in Scramogue Cemetery. Patrick (Pat) McCann, Ballincurry, Longford


The death  occurred, suddenly but peacefully, at his home on Sunday, April 9, 2023 of Patrick (Pat) McCann, Ballincurry, Longford.  He is predeceased by his parents Mary-Ann and Pat. Pat will be always remembered with love, by his dear wife Rose, his cherished daughter Siobhan O' Malley, son-in-law Tom, his adored grandchildren Donncha and Ronan, nephews and nieces Peter,Tosh, Paul, Daniel, Shane, Chris, Jacinta and Lucy, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church St, Longford, (N39 P0E8), on Tuesday, April 11 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Removal from his home on Wednesday, April 12 to arrive at St Mary's Church, Newtownforbes, for Funeral mass at 12 noon, followed with burial in the local cemetery. Mary Rafferty (née Kane), Jamestown, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim / Cavan / Roscommon


The death occurred, peacefully, in the UK, on Saturday, March 25, 2023 of Mary Rafferty (née Kane), Bolton, England and formerly of Tully House, Jamestown, Carrick-on-Shannon, Leitrim / Cavan / Roscommon. Predeceased by her son Eugene and her loving husband Frank. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Kevin and Kieran, her grand-children, Caitlin, Dayna, Andrew, Joseph, Hannah and Rosie, also her sister Margret and brother Seamus. She will be remembered by many family and friends from Roscommon, Leitrim and Cavan. May She Rest In Peace.
Mary's body will be flown back home from Bolton where she will have a funeral Mass at St Osmund’s, Long Lane, Bolton on Wednesday, April 12 at 11am. She will be taken from Smiths Funeral Home Barrack Street, Granard, Co Longford N39 AX97 on Friday, April 14 for Funeral Mass at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Coronea, Co Cavan at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Parish Of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and Fr O’Gorman for their help. Also the family would like to thank all those in the UK and at home who have assisted in bringing Mary home especially Howarth’s Funeral services, Bolton. Martin McDonnell, Farnagh, Longford
The death occurred, tragically, on Thursday, April 6, 2023 of Martin McDonnell, Farnagh, Longford. He is predeceased by his brother Ciaran and uncle Patrick. Martin will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, parents Willie and Patricia, his brothers and sisters Shane, Amy, Brandon, Willie, Helen, Melissa, Bridget, Abbie, Caroline, Mary, Queva, Andrew, Michael, Simon, John, his beloved fiancée Sherley, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, uncles and aunts, cousins, and his many dear friends. The death occurred, peacefully with her loving family by her side, at the St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan, on Monday, April 10, 2023 of Anne Byrne (née Grimes), Glenview, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath.
Predeceased by her parents Jimmy and Chrissie. Sadly missed by her loving husband Michael, daughters Karen, Tracey, Amanda and Lynne, brother Pat, sister Mary, grandchildren Charlie, Aoife, Isobel, Robyn and Cara, best friend Maureen, sons-in-law David and John, brothers-in-law Pat and Tom, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred, of a gentleman in his 95th year, very peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, April 9, 2023 of Daniel Finnegan, Dalkey, Dublin, born Ballinagh, Cavan. Beloved husband of Colleen, adored and cherished father of Donal, Neil, CathyAnne, Michelle, Peter, Alan and the late Paul. He is sadly missed by his family, daughters-in-law Anne-Marie, Maria, Ana, Jane, sons-in-law Howard and Shane, his loving grandchildren Richard, Killian, Katie, Dan, Peter, Maria, Mark, Aoibhín, Isobel, Seán, Tess, Tom and Sally, his nephews, nieces, sister-in-law Kathleen, extended family, customers and all the dedicated staff of Finnegan’s over his 53 years in business in Dalkey and his many friends.

The recent death occurred, peacefully at Sligo University Hospital, on Thursday, April 6, 2023 of Patrick (Pat) Dennehy, Quay Street, Drumsna, Co Leitrim.
Predeceased by his parents Richard & Eileen. Sadly missed by his sisters Sally & Maria, brother Richard, (Dublin City North) sister-in-law Eileen, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Rest in Peace.

The death occurred, peacefully, on Friday, January 13, 2023 of Noreen (Nora) Josephine Atkinson (Landy née Wallace), Ruislip, Middlesex, England and formerly of New Kiltoom, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and Louisburgh, Co Mayo. Beloved wife of Brian and the late Eamonn and dear mother of Paul and Louise. Noreen will be very sadly missed by her husband and family, son-in-law Gary, daughter-in-law Jackie, her cherished grandchildren Natasha, Heather, Aidan, Pearse and Christy, her brothers Anthony, Stephen and Tommy, sister Mary, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. May Noreen rest in peace.
Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 1pm at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, Greenford, Middlesex, England, followed by cremation at Breakspear Crematorium, Ruislip. The Mass can be viewed at Our Lady of the Visitation
A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 12 noon in the Church of St John the Baptist, Whitehall, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath followed by interment of ashes in the adjoining cemetery. In preference to flowers, Brian, Paul and Louise would appreciate donations to Alzheimer's Research UK (JustGiving)
