The death occurred, peacefully, in the loving care of the staff at the Sacred Heart Care Home, Roscommon, on Thursday, February 16, 2023 of Pauline Eivers, Cloncullen, Ballymahon, Longford. Predeceased by her parents (Tom and Mary), sisters (Mary and Margaret) and brothers (Sean, Donal, Mike, Jim and Tom). Deeply regretted by her sister Loretto (Turner), nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives and friends. Rest in Peace.
Reposing on Saturday, February 18 in Rooney's Funeral Home, Ballymore (N91FW90) from 10 am to 10.45am followed by Removal to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Ballymore arriving at 11am for Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. No handshakes please at the family's request. 

Lesia (Meleesa) Farrell (née Brady), Schooland, Ballinalee, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Mullingar Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 of Lesia (Meleesa) Farrell (née Brady), Schooland, Ballinalee, Longford. She is predeceased by her husband Dan. Lesia will be sadly missed and forever remembered with love by her family, sons Sean, Gerry and Mel, daughters Ann, Meleesa and Miriam, sons-in-law Mervyn, John and Ryan, daughters-in-law Geraldine and Jackie, her adored grandchildren Dan, Matthew, Grace, Clara, Rachel, Jessica, Daniel, Killian, Niamh, Conor, Seán, Tadgh and Dónal,sister-in-law Rita Farrell, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and her many dear friends.

The death occurred on Monday, February 13, 2023 of David Corr, Kilnashee, Drumlish, Co Longford and formerly of London. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Mary Ellen, brothers Mícheal and baby Oliver. Sadly missed by Claire and his son Oliver, his loving family Christina (Kenny, Aughavas), Sean (London), Kieran, Cyril, Monica (Carr) Maynooth, Aidan (Galway), Declan and Olivia (Walsh), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, all his extended family and friends. David will repose in Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road, Longford on Wednesday evening, February 15 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. The death occurred, peacefully, in her 92nd year, surrounded by her family, in the loving care of the staff at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 of May Mills (nee Mortimer), Abbeyshrule, Co Longford/ Coole, Westmeath. Predeceased by her loving husband Richard and brother Thomas Mortimer. Deeply missed by her daughters Ann, Rosemary and Jean, sons John and Stephen, daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, niece, Harold and extended family.
Reposing at her son John’s residence on Thursday, February 16 from 4pm until 7pm. Funeral service on Friday, February 17 at 2pm in Tashinny Church, followed by Interment in St Munis's graveyard Forgney, (N39EH36). Donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Irish Hospice Association welcome, please.

The death occurred, suddenly, on Monday, February 13, 2023 of Benedict (Ben) McGowan, Clondra, Co. Longford and formerly Lack Whitehall, Co Roscommon. RIP. Predeceased by his wife Mary, daughter Catherine, father Michael John and brother Padraic. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken family, son Keith, daughter Rachel, mother Eva, sisters Geraldine (Drumlish), Gabrielle (Derryharrow, Longford), Nuala (Lack), uncle Anthony, aunts Mai, Ethel, Margaret, Charlotte, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Elizabeth (Betty) Igoe (née Ganly), Pearsonsbrook, Glasson, Athlone, Westmeath


The death occurred, peacefully in Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar, on Thursday, February 16, 2023 of Elizabeth (Betty) Igoe (née Ganly), Pearsonsbrook, Glasson, Athlone, Westmeath. Predeceased by her husband Denis. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her daughter Maura, sons Liam, Michael, Denis, John, Oliver and Conor, sisters Maureen (Dillon) & Sheila (Keogh), brother Bernard, in-laws, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. Reposing at Flynn's Funeral Home, The Strand on Friday, February 17 from 4pm with removal at 6pm to Church of The Immaculate Conception, Tubberclair arriving at 6:30pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday morning, February 18 in the Church of Immaculate Conception, Tubberclair at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. The family greatly appreciates your sympathy and support at this difficult time. James Foley, Mohill, Co Leitrim


The death occurred, peacefully in the compassionate care of the staff of Arus Carolan Nursing Home, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 of James Foley (2.2.1939 – 11.2.2023), Mohill and Farnaught, Co Leitrim. James will be dearly missed by his loving wife Anne, their sons Brendan, Colin, Stephen and Niall, siblings John, Michael and Bridie, his four grandchildren, nephews and nieces, wider family and neighbours. James loved good company and had time for everyone. He returned to Mohill in 1998 after many years in London and he will be fondly remembered by the many friends he made there.
James will repose at Smith’s, Ballinamore from 6pm – 8pm on Friday February 17. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18 at 12pm in Gortletteragh Church with burial afterwards in the Church Cemetery.

Martin Lacey, Rathowen, Co Westmeath / Lucan, Dublin


The death occurred, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Portiuncula Nursing Home, Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 of Martin Lacey, Rathowen, Co Westmeath and formerly of Sarsfield Park, Lucan, Co Dublin and Ballycarney, Co Wexford. Predeceased by his wife Phyllis, parents Lizzie and Mick Lacey, sisters Lil and Bud, brothers Jack and Peter. Sadly missed by his daughters Ger (Connaughton), Anne (Garvey), sons Michael, Enda and Mark, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, brother Mick, sister Kit, sons-in-law Cyrian and Tony, daughters-in-law Frances, Linda and Gill, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Frederick (Fred) Brady, Carne, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath


The death occurred, peacefully, in his 102nd year, at the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 of Frederick (Fred) Brady, Carne, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath. Predeceased by his beloved wife May. Fred will be very sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Susan (Jestin), son-in-law Ivan, his adored grandchildren Scott and Amy, his niece Mamie and her husband Seán, extended family, neighbours, carers and many friends.
Reposing at Gilsenan's Funeral Home, Mullingar (N91 K660) on Thursday, February 16 from 4.30pm to 6pm followed by removal to St Michael's Church of Ireland, Castlepollard arriving at 6.30pm. Funeral Service on Friday, February 17 at 2pm followed by burial in the adjoining Churchyard. ‘Safe in the arms of Jesus’.

The death occurred, surrounded by his loving family in the loving care of the nurses and staff at St. Ciaran’s Services, Summerhill, Carrick on Shannon, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 of Shane Maxwell, Fearnaught, Aughamore, Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim.
Special son of Richard and Anna and dear brother to Enda and Niall, sadly missed by his loving family, sisters in law Ursula and Ann-Marie, Aunts, niece, nephews, relatives, his friends and carers in St. Ciaran’s, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Shane Rest in Peace.

Predeceased by her sons Alfie, David and Adrian. Sadly missed by her loving husband Sean, son Colin, daughters Pamela and Caroline, son-in-law Declan, sister Geraldine, brothers Tommy, Malcolm and Robert, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. Ann Cullen (nee Thorne), La Montagne, France and formerly Dublin Street and Deanscurragh, Longford


The death occurred of Ann Cullen (nee Thorne), La Montagne, France, daughter of the late William and Catherine Thorne Dublin Street and Deanscurragh, Longford. Ann died in Maulin's Centre Hospital La Montagne, France where she lived for over fifty years with her husband Terry.
She is survived by her husband Terry, formerly of Main St Longford, her brothers Mattie and Frank, relatives and friends.
A commemorative Mass will be held for Ann in St Mel's Cathedral on Sunday, March 12 at 10am.

Michael Dowler, UK and Abbeyshrule, Longford


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, which occurred peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Kettering General Hospital, of Michael Dowler, 1944-2023. Michael had so many memories of growing up in Abbeyshrule and the surrounding areas in Longford with his parents Michael and Kathleen Dowler and sister Nancy and cousin James Dowler. A loving Daddy to Nicola, Aileen, Kristine and Katie, grandad and friend to many. Funeral takes place in Saint Edwards Church, Kettering at 2pm on Friday, February 17, 2023.

William (Willie) Kenny Jnr, Corlislea, Ballinagh and late of Marian Row, Ballinagh, Co Cavan


The death occurred, following a tragic accident in Swords, Co Dublin, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 of William (Willie) Kenny Jnr, Corlislea, Ballinagh and late of Marian Row, Ballinagh, Co Cavan. Loving husband of Tammy, and dear Daddy of Tamzin, and William. Loving son of Tina, and Willie Kenny. The death occurred, peacefully, in the tender care of the staff at Sligo University Hospital, following a brief illness, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 of Bridie Murphy (née Mahon) 19 Lios Beag, Keadue, Co Roscommon, formerly Strabragon, Arigna, Co Roscommon. Daughter of the late Michael and Alice Mahon and predeceased by her sisters Mary and Mena. Bridie will be sadly missed by her sisters Rose Crowley, (Battlebridge), Nancy Mc Teague, (Boyle) and Detty Callan (Fourmile House), brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

The death occurred, peacefully, on Friday, January 13, 2023 of Noreen (Nora) Josephine Atkinson (Landy née Wallace), Ruislip, Middlesex, England and formerly of New Kiltoom, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and Louisburgh, Co Mayo. Beloved wife of Brian and the late Eamonn and dear mother of Paul and Louise. Noreen will be very sadly missed by her husband and family, son-in-law Gary, daughter-in-law Jackie, her cherished grandchildren Natasha, Heather, Aidan, Pearse and Christy, her brothers Anthony, Stephen and Tommy, sister Mary, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
