The death occurred, peacefully at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 of Johnny Mulligan, Clooneen, Granard, Co Longford. Deeply regretted by his brother Edward, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and a large circle of friends. May Johnny Rest in Peace.
Reposing at Reilly's Funeral Home, Kilcogy, Co Cavan N39W1D6 on Friday, January 27 at 6pm with prayers at 8.15pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 28 at 12 noon in St Columba's Church, Mullinalaghta, Co Longford N39EY17, with burial afterwards in local cemetery. Maureen Manicle (née Murray), Farnagh Hill, Longford Town, Longford


The death occurred, peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 of Maureen Manicle (née Murray), Farnagh Hill, Longford Town, Longford and formerly of Moatefarrell. Predeceased by her parents Henry and Kathleen. Maureen will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, husband Pat, daughter Catherine Quinn, son-in-law Sean, grandchildren Sharon and Seamus, sisters Margaret Clancy and Kathleen Dowler, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road on Friday, January 27 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. The death occurred on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 of Gladys Donnelly (née Fontain), ‘Glad Cottage’, Cloonahard, Longford and formerly of Liverpool, at the Midland Regional hospital, Mullingar. Predeceased by her son Jimmy, Grandson Wayne, Granddaughter Stacey and brothers Gordon and Bill. Deeply regretted by her loving and devoted husband Jimmy, family, Alan, Gladys, Colin, Julie, Janet and David, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and partners, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, sisters Josie and Joan, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. The death occurred, at Lough Erill nursing home Mohill surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 26, 2023 of Anne Sinclair Malcolm Moxham (née Reid), late of Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim and originally Kelvingrove, Glasgow. Predeceased by her beloved husband William. She will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters Shona and Carol, sons-in-law Don and James, loving sisters Christina and Isabel, nephews and nieces Frank, Helen, Patricia, Linda, Stephen and Karl. At Rest.
Service will take place in St George’s Carrick-on-Shannon on Monday January 30 at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Carrickedmond Churchyard, Co Longford, arriving at 2pm approximately. Family flowers only.

Angela Kaupert (née Blacoe), Pakenhamhall Road, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the tender and loving care of the staff of St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan, on Thursday, January 26, 2023 of Angela Kaupert (née Blacoe), Pakenhamhall Road, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.
Predeceased by her loving husband Christoph, and her parents Guss and Maura Blacoe. Sadly missed by her daughter Petra (Geraghty), son Kurt, son-in-law Declan, daughter-in-law JoeAnn, grandchildren Zara, Roan, Kya and Krista, sisters Ann Nea, Maureen Masterson and Marion Davis, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred,  peacefully at Cavan General Hospital, in her 92nd year, on Thursday, January 26, 2023 of Una Maguire (nee Connolly) Aughalough, Drumreilly, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by her husband Hughie, her son Seán, her brother Eamonn and three grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family Geraldine Prior (Ballinamore), Hugh Joseph (Aughavas), Anna Marie Heron (Drumshanbo), Michael (Drumreilly), Dessie (Drumreilly), Regina Reilly (Aughnasheelin) & Oliver (Drumreilly), her brother Michael (England), sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, her 25 beloved grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. The death occurred, in the loving care of the staff at Áras Carolan Nursing Unit, Mohill, in her 94th year, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 of Anne (Nan) Callaghan (nee Travers), Derrinkeher Roycroft, Aughnasheelin, Co Leitrim.
Predeceased by her husband Joe. She will be sadly missed by her family Mary Quinn (Gabriel), Breda Mulvanerty (Keilan) and Bernie McGovern (Michael), her beloved grandchildren Fiona, Kelan & Enda (Quinn) Niamh & Niall (Mulvanerty) and David, Barry & Kevin (McGovern), great-grandchildren Dylan, Seán, Lucy, Shay & Ceadan, nephew Seán, niece Siobhán, neighbours and friends. The death occurred, suddenly at his home, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 of Robert Edward (Bob) Howarth, 22 River Meadow, Dromod, Leitrim and formerly of Haverfordwest, Wales. Sadly missed by his wife Carol, brothers John, Tony and Eric, in laws Harry and Cathy, nieces and nephew.
Removal from his residence on Saturday, January 28, for cremation ceremony in Lakelands Crematorium at 12 noon. Fr Vincent Brady, Rocklin, California, Arva, Co Cavan


The death occurred, suddenly, but peacefully at his home in Rocklin, California, on Thursday, January 19, 2023 of Fr Vincent Brady, Retired Pastor, Rocklin, California, native of Gurteen, Arva, County Cavan.
Deeply regretted by his Bishop, brother priests, former parishioners, and many good friends. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Kate, his brother Paddy and his wife Lily, his sister Beesie McCarthy and her husband Mick, his brother Philip and his wife Marie, his brothers Fr Charlie, Thomas, and Gerard, his brother in law John Conefrey, nephews Gerard Brady and Aiden Conefrey. Fr Vincent will be sadly missed by his sister Kathleen Conefrey (Cammagh, Moyne) brothers, James and his wife Madeline (Portarlington), John Joe and his wife Margaret (Gurteen), Donal and his wife Mary (Longford), sisters in law Angela and Maureen, his much loved nieces and nephews and his grand nieces and nephews. Fr Vincent’s Funeral will take place in California. A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will take place at a later date. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred, suddenly in Australia, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 of Marie Sheridan, Cornee, Mohill, Co. Leitrim.  Predeceased by her father John and brother Micheal, deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken mother Maura, Brothers John and Patrick, sister-in-law Patricia and nephew Evan, Aunts, uncles,cousins extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Valerie Pakenham (née McNair Scott), Tullynally, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath


The death occurred, peacefully, surrounded by her family and devoted friends, after an illness stoically borne, on Sunday, January 22 of Valerie Pakenham (née McNair Scott), at her beloved home Tullynally, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.
Dearly loved wife of Thomas, wonderful mother to Maria, Eliza, Ned and Fred, cherished mother-in-law to Bogislav, Alex, Sarah, Claire, and inspiring grandmother to Aidan, Ciarán, Samuel, Anselm, Matilda, Gabriel, Julia, Tom, Lyra, Sasha and Ferdy. She will be much missed by her adored brother Nigel, and her large extended family and many friends.
Valerie’s funeral cortège will depart from the Grand Gate at Tullynally on Monday, January 30 at 10.45am, to arrive at St Michael’s Church, The Square, Castlepollard for 11am funeral service, and thereafter to the Lakelands Funeral Home and Crematorium, Cavan, for cremation ceremony at 2pm. The Pakenham family wishes to thank all those who have offered words of sympathy, cards and flowers since Valerie’s sad passing, and kindly ask for your support and understanding as they take the necessary time to grieve as a family.

Michael Patrick Greene, Strokestown, Roscommon


The death occurred, peacefully, in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 of Michael Patrick Greene, of Birmingham, and formerly of Strokestown, Roscommon. Predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Anthony, Tommy, Johnny and sister Mary and wives Kitty and Maureen. Michael deeply regretted and remembered by his sisters Peggy and Nancy and brother-in-law Tom Fisher, and John Orahoe, daughter Pamela, son-in-law Lou sons Kieran and Adrian, daughter-in-laws, Helen and Caroline, grandchildren, Nicholas, Eleanor, Alexis, Talia, Francesca, Marijka, Lorna, Cairstine and Patric. Great grandchildren, Harry, Rory, Conor and Douglas. Also by his many nephews and nieces.
Requiem Mass on Friday, January 27 at 11:30 am at St Joseph's and Helen's Kings Norton, Birmingham, followed by cremation at Lodge Hill Crematorium, Selly Oak, Birmingham. May he rest in peace.
