The Longford U13’s squad who impressively defeated Boyne RFC on Saturday last

Longford U13’s put in a big home display last Saturday as they beat Boyne RFC by 33-17 in the Leinster League.

Leinster U13 League: Longford RFC 33 Boyne RFC 17

After some intense training in the run up to the fixture, the speed of rucking was very impressive as was the overall open play both in attack and defence.

In the forwards Vincent Burke, Jack McMurtrie, Chalie Kiernan, Ruaidhri Cosgrove, Andrew Nolan, Dan Smyth, Zach Murphy and Sean McNally each made big impressions as did Jamie Marlowe, Mason Donnellan, Brian Raftery, Glen Ballesty, Jack Keenan and Cian Burke.

The backs were super sharp with Stevie Cox and captain Mack O’Neill pulling the strings at halfback, releasing Adam Fitzpatrick and Liam Neary at centre throughout.

The back three of Tiernan Farrell, Tyler Dempsey and Thomas Denniston were always a threat as were Bobby Glennon, Ross McGinley and Rian Fitzpatrick. Overall a great display by a very talented team.

Player of the Match went to Liam Neary at 12 who had another dominant game, scoring 3 tries in the process. Liam is a great example of a player who only took up rugby in September and is already excelling as a rugby player.
