Longford score crucial win over Leitrim in the Lory Meagher Cup

Longford made it two consecutive wins in the Lory Meagher Cup with a crucial four-point victory over Leitrim in Shane McGettigan Park in Drumshanbo on Sunday, a result that keeps their hopes of making the Croke Park Final for a second successive year very much alive, while at the same time all but extinguishing Leitrim’s title ambitions.

Wexford goal the turning point as Longford ladies lose in the championship

A cracking goal from Wexford midfielder Ciara Banville in the opening minute of the second half proved to be the turning point as Longford lost in the opening round of the Ladies Football Leinster Intermediate Championship at the Monaduff grounds, Drumlish on Sunday.

Longford suffer slender defeat against Offaly in Leinster Minor Championship exit

Six points down (1-10 to 0-7) midway through the second half, the spirited Longford U-17 footballers staged a great comeback during the remainder of the match but ended up suffering a slender defeat in the remaining Leinster Minor Championship group fixture against Offaly at O’Connor Park in Tullamore on Wednesday evening.
