Late Pauline O'Hara (nee Quirke) Kilkenny and formerly of the Bay Horse Main Street, Granard, Co Longford and late of Toomevara, Co Tipperary
Sadness and genuine regret was felt in the parish of Granard, and indeed, further afield, when the news became known that Pauline O’Hara (nee Quirke), formerly of The Bay Horse Pub, Main Street, Granard had passed to her eternal reward on Sunday, February 10 in Drakelands House Nursing Home, Co Kilkenny where she had been a resident for some time.
Beloved wife of the late Paddy O’Hara, Pauline was a very successful business lady, who along with Paddy, ran the Bay Horse pub for a long time and she reared a family of ten children.
Many will have great memories of calling to The Bay Horse where a warm welcome was always available and Pauline worked behind the grocery counter and prepared the orders for her customers while the men folk enjoyed their pints at the bar counter behind the wooden partition.
A lady of great faith, Pauline was a very kind person and she will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her over the years.
Her body reposed at Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny on Tuesday, February 12 and she returned to Granard on Wednesday evening where she lay in repose at Smith's funeral home and large crowds from all walks of life joined the long queues to say farewell to a much loved mother, grandmother and friend. And again on Thursday, Fenbruary 14, St Mary's Church in Granard was packed for her funeral Mass.
Pauline was laid to rest in the family plot in Granardkille cemetery beside her beloved husband Paddy.
Sincere sympathy is extended to her sons and daughters Helen, Pauline, Pat, Michael, Majella, Breda, Seán, Eamonn, Martina and Oliver, sadly missed by her loving family, brother Paddy and his wife Kay, sister-in-law Lena, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, her twenty-five grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
