Emergency services attended the scene on Sunday.
A man in his 50s has died in a road traffic accident near the Ardee Celtic soccer ground at Townparks, Ardee.
The incident occured at around 5.30pm on Sunday evening when the vehicle the man was driving hit a tree. Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Garda spokesperson said, "Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision at Townparks, Ardee, Co. Louth at 5.30pm on Sunday, February 11.
"A man in his 50s was fatally injured when his car left the road and struck a tree. There was no other vehicle involved and the man was alone in the car at the time of the crash."
The road remained closed for a number of hours overnight but has since reopened following an examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The collision happened on the Bog Road between Ardee and Drumconrath.
