Longford Triathlon Club has claimed overall victory in the 2025 Midland Aquathon Series, following a thrilling final event hosted by Midland Triathlon Club at Crookedwood. 

The five-week series culminated in a high-energy finale at Lough Derravaragh, where athletes braved open water and a challenging cross-country course to secure top honours.

Despite an overcast morning, the skies cleared just in time for the competition, revealing a scenic course complete with rolling hills.

Longford Triathlon Club athletes turned out in full force, showcasing grit, teamwork, and determination throughout the series. Their collective effort earned them first place overall, a testament to the club’s growth, spirit, and unwavering commitment to multisport excellence.

“This series has been about more than just podiums,” said a club spokesperson. “It’s about showing up, supporting each other, and embracing the values that make our club special; community, effort, and fun.”

The series drew participants from clubs across the Midlands, including Athlone, Lanesboro, Lough Key, and Midland Triathlon Clubs. Longford Tri Club extended sincere thanks to all host clubs, race organisers, volunteers, and supporters who made the events possible.

Joe Donohoe – 3rd Place, 750m Swim & Run

Stephen Cosgrave & Stephanie Scanlon – 1st Place, 250m Swim & Run

With the 2025 series now concluded, Longford Triathlon Club looks forward to building on this momentum and welcoming even more athletes into the fold for next year’s competition.
