This is the fourth year that the lunch has been held in celebration of Junior Club Rugby in Leinster.
Derick has given many years of dedicated service and commitment to the Midlands area and Leinster Rugby and to both Mullingar and Longford Rugby Clubs both as a player and administrator.
He was an advocate for promoting and introducing both youths and women’s rugby to Longford RFC.
Derick is also a former manager of the Leinster Junior team. He has been honoured today (Saturday, January 28, 2023) as the fourth recipient of the Sean O’Brien Hall of Fame Award.
Just before Christmas Derick was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the 2022 Longford Leader Sports Star of the Year, in association with Longford Sports Partnership, at a gala awards ceremony in the Longford Arms Hotel.
