A man and a woman in their 60s have been arrested on suspicion of impeding the Ashling Murphy murder investigation.
A garda statement issued on Thursday read: “Gardaí investigating a fatal assault, which occurred in Tullamore on January 12, 2022, arrested a man and a woman, both aged in their 60s, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in connection with the investigation.
“Both were arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to Section 7(2) Criminal Law Act 1997 and were detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda Stations in the Eastern Garda Region.”
Ashling Murphy was killed after being attacked on the Grand Canal at Cappincur near Tullamore on January 12.
Jozef Puska of Lynally Grove, Mucklagh, Tullamore, has appeared a number of times before the courts charged with her murder.
