Longford rail commuters were forced to endure delays of anything between 40 minutes and over an hour this morning owing to the heavy overnight snowfall and freezing temperatures that let to 'frozen points' at Sligo and Longford.

Bus transfers operated from Longford and Mullingar for passengers on the delayed 06.40 Sligo to Connolly service.
Some commuters were frustrated by the delays with one tweeting "That's #sneachta way to run a service!" and another posted a video on Twitter of passengers cramming into a commuter service.

So because the sligo train was late 2 train loads of people had to pack onto this commuter. 5 minutes after this video there was 8 more people and that's the ones who managed to fit on. Others were left at the stations in the freezing cold pic.twitter.com/0bIrkGESyB
