The Longford Search and Recovery Scuba Diving Team
Longford’s Search and Recovery Scuba Diving Team will be holding their annual church gate collection this Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22, outside each church around the county.
People of Longford are asked to donate what they can to this incredible organisation, whose divers help reunite bereaved families with loved ones that have lost their lives in the water.

Speaking to the Longford Leader, diving officer Paul Clancy said the fundraiser is vital to the club with all help being greatly appreciated.
He explained, “Members pay for their own equipment, their own training, so this (the fundraising) is to keep the lights on in the club.”
Club training officer, James Cahill, added, “With insurance and upkeep, you’d be looking at a minimum of €8,000 so this fundraiser is so important for us. Families never know when they'll need to use the service.”
If you can't make it to a church gate collection but would still like to donate, you can do so online on the club’s GoFundMe page: ‘Support Longford Search and Recovery Diving Unit.’
