A Midlands woman who is Ireland’s oldest person is looking forward to her 110th birthday. 

Eileen Hynes  celebrated her 109th birthday on Monday, December 15 at her home near Coolderry.

Eileen was joined by members of her family for the occasion and her cousin Fr Michael Enright travelled up from Waterford for the occasion.

The remarkable Eileen said she was looking forward to her 110th birthday. She was kept busy all over the weekend with people calling her to wish her a happy 109th birthday.

Eileen is the mother of ten children, twenty seven grandchildren, fifty five great-grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren.
