Garda Mark Mulligan will be laid to rest on Monday
There was widespread shock and sadness over the past number of days following the news that a popular and much-loved young Garda, Mark (Mull) Mulligan, had passed away suddenly.
The 34 year old, who was formerly of Farnagh and living in Aughnacliffe, passed away last Wednesday, December 17.
Mark's funeral will be taking place this Monday December 22 at 11am in St Mel's Cathedral, Longford town.

Following the mass, Mark will be laid to rest in Ballymacormack Cemetery.
Please note, the home of Marie, Mark's mother, and Paddy will remain private tomorrow Sunday, December 21.
The hours following the publication of Mark's funeral details saw hundreds of condolences being posted, with many describing him as "a top fella", "a gentleman", "a warm caring soul who will be sorely missed by all who knew him," and, "one of the most kind and gentle souls you could ever wish to meet or call a friend."
Many condolences referenced Mark's lifelong love of GAA football and praised his ability as a "skilfully gifted footballer." One sympathiser wrote of his "fond memories of Mark as a young lad running around Farnagh with a football." He added that Mark had grown up to "be a lovely man liked by all who knew him."
In extending their condolences, the Longford Slashers Club said Mark had been "a treasured member" of the club for many years and recalled his great achievements as a talented footballer in underage and Junior football.
Another sympathiser wrote, "I have very fond memories of Mark from our time playing together with the Slashers Juniors and he had an incredible ability with his quick wit to put a smile on everyone's face, no matter what age they were."
The funeral notice for the young Garda says he will be "sadly missed and always remembered with love by his family, his heartbroken mother Marie and Paddy, Paddy's children Dwain, Ciarán and Rachel, uncles Vincent, David, and Nathan, aunt Margaret, his cousins Megan (New Zealand), Daniel, Jamie, Abbie, Zöe, Ruairí, Alex, and Ryan, the extended Hudson family, he will also be remembered by his many dear friends and his work colleagues in An Garda Síochána."
