There were words of congratulations from local representatives at the monthly meeting of Longford County Council to Christine Collins for winning a prestigious Women in Digital Award.
The Broadband and Digital officer for the local authority, was recognised for her work by Digital Business Ireland, the country’s largest representative body for digital and online businesses.
In her work with the council, Ms Collins is driving transformative digital education initiatives in schools and through regional digital skills efforts such as the Midlands Digital Education programme.
Cllr Mick Cahill said she deserved the prize for making operations seem simple during a challenging period.
The Fianna Fáil representative stated there was also great support from the community hubs.
Fine Gael Cllr Paul Ross described Ms Collins as being a credit to their organisation.

"She won an award that was not a local authority award, it was a national award for business.
