St Mel’s National School, Ardagh receives Amber Flag
St Mel’s National School, Ardagh has been awarded the Pieta Amber Flag for 2023-2024.
The initiative recognises the individual efforts to create healthy, inclusive environments that support the mental wellbeing of schools in Ireland.
As part of this award, the Amber Flag Wellbeing committee, led by teachers, organised wellbeing activities in school culminating in a Wellbeing Week held in April.

The week focused on promoting movement and positivity, and included meditations, village walks, mindfulness activities, and fundraising in aid of Pieta.
Each day of wellbeing week had a specific theme: Mindful Monday, Thankful Tuesday, Wellbeing Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday and FUNdraising Friday.

A hugely successful Bring and Buy Sale and Bake Sale took place on FUNdraising Friday. The school also had a no-uniform day with pupils encouraged to wear yellow/orange/bright colours to school. Funds raised went to Pieta House.
Well done to the students, staff and families of St Mel’s National School for their efforts in achieving this Amber Flag.
