Ten local teachers honoured at Longford Branch INTO retirement function

Longford Branch INTO hosted their biannual retirement function in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule recently.


Ten local teachers were honoured on the night.


The retirees included Marett Smith from Sacred Heart Granard, Sinéad Smith St Eimear’s NS, Celine Sloane, Marion Gordon, and Mary O’ Boyle from Melview NS.

Also celebrated and recognised on Thursday, May 30 were Kay Smyth Cloontagh NS, Colette McManus Clondra NS, Catherine McGoldrick Drumlish NS, Mary Farrelly Scoil Samhthann Ballinalee and Mary Duignan from Fermoyle NS.

It was significant to have local teacher and INTO President Carmel Browne make presentations to the retirees at the function.
Carmel is Deputy Principal of Melview NS, and it was a very special occasion for her to be able to honor her colleagues as President of the INTO.
