Gaelscoil Longfoirt is launching a new fundraising campaign, its own lotto, An Lató Scoile, to raise funds to improve the education experience of the children in the school.
Since opening its doors in 1998, Gaelscoil Longfoirt has been a very prominent part of life in Longford town, starting out as a small 20 pupil school, developing into the very successful and inclusive school that it is today.
Gaelscoil Longfoirt strives to provide the best education for all pupils in the school. ‘Most recently we opened our first Autism class and two sensory rooms to meet the needs of the pupils in our school,’ explained Múinteoir Andrée, the school principal.
‘We understand the importance and also the huge benefits of having these resources and many other facilities to provide the best education possible for our pupils,’ she went on to add. ‘The cost of providing educational resources is rising and any grants from the Department can only cover so much.’

Cairde na Scoile, the school’s parents’ committee, are committed to supporting the school in whatever way possible and have taken on this new fundraising venture to help provide vital funds for the school. First on the wish list is sensory equipment for use throughout the school.
The school is appealing to families, friends, past pupils, members of the local community and supporters of the school to get behind the monthly lotto.
To be in with the chance of winning the monthly jackpot or even one of the many spot prizes, there is the option of €2.50 per line or three lines for €5. To sign up go to the school’s website www.gaelscoillongfoirt.ie and click on the fundraiser tab.
