The late Ross McCann, who will be sadly missed by many in Longford town.

The huge outpour of sympathy and support for the family and friends of Longford town native, the late Ross McCann, is “a reflection on the kind of man he was”, according to Regional Youth Officer Jim Maher of the Attic Youth Centre.

The 42-year-old passed away peacefully in the loving care of his devoted family on Sunday, following a herculean battle with cancer.

Ross was a member of the Attic House management committee and steadfastly defended and promoted the important role of youth services in the community.

He was one of the earliest and longest serving volunteers for the Attic's Temperance Hall discos and was a popular and dependable feature at the annual Hype Festival.

“We're absolutely devastated at the loss of Ross McCann. He was a mighty trooper for us in the Attic and the campaign behind him throughout his illness shows the appreciation Longford had for him,” said Mr Maher.
