A Longford man has died suddenly in Australia, the Leader understands
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family of a Longford man who has died suddenly in Australia.
The Leader understands the man, who is aged in his 30s and from the Clondra area, died suddenly at his his home yesterday.
He had been living in Australia for a number of years, but had been intending to come home to Longford for Christmas.
The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed they are aware of the case and are providing consular assistance to the family of the deceased.
Local Councillor Seamus Butler expressed his sympathy to the family of the man, adding the timing of the tragedy so soon to Christmas made it all the more agonising.
"It's terrible news, it really is," he said.
"To lose a son is unimaginable but when it happens the other side of the world, it just adds to the tragedy."
Details of the man's sudden passing comes just hours after news broke surrounding the tragic circumstances into the death of 21-year-old Drumlish man Danny McGee.
