Longford County Council is reporting, as of 4pm on Saturday, January 25, that most regional roads are passable as council crews continue the massive Storm Éowyn clean up
Roads crews have been working since first light clearing fallen trees and debris from roads, with all National Roads passable since early afternoon yesterday, Friday, 24 January.
All Regional Roads are passable, except for the R198 which is closed North of Gaigue Cross. Crews are waiting for ESB assistance to deal with a low-lying cable.
The R397 near Kenagh is currently open but will be closed later today for a short duration to facilitate ESB works.
Longford Civil Defence will be assisting our road crews.
Work will continue into next week to clear all remaining trees and debris. We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly as possible in difficult circumstances where the safety of our teams and the public is paramount.
